Which Foreign Language Diplomas and Certificates are Eligible for Master's Degree Admission?

According to Clause 1, Article 5 of the Regulations on Admission and Training at the Master’s Level issued together with Circular 23/2021/TT-BGDDT (effective from October 15, 2021) stipulating the subjects and conditions for admission, in which:

Requirements for candidates:

a) Have graduated or have met the conditions for university graduation recognition (or equivalent level and above) in a relevant major; for research-oriented programs, a graduation grade of fairly good or above is required or having relevant scientific publications in the field to be studied and researched;

b) Have foreign language proficiency of Level 3 or above according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam;

c) Meet other requirements of the training program standards issued by the Ministry of Education and Training and according to the regulations of the training program.

At the same time, as stipulated in Clause 3 of this Article, candidates meet the requirements specified in point b, clause 1 of this Article when possessing one of the following degrees or certificates:

- A university degree or higher in a foreign language major; or a university degree or higher in a program primarily conducted in a foreign language;

- A university degree or higher issued by the training institution within no more than 02 years, where the program’s output standards have met the foreign language requirements of Level 3 or above according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam;

- One of the degrees or foreign language certificates that meet the Level 3 or higher according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam, as stipulated in the Appendix of these Regulations or other equivalent certificates as announced by the Ministry of Education and Training, valid as of the date of application for admission.
