Where is the location for the 2024 National University competency assessment exam in Vietnam? 

Currently, Vietnam has 2 National Universities: Hanoi National University and Ho Chi Minh National University. The locations for the 2024 competency assessment exam at the 02 National Universities are as follows:

(1) Competency assessment exam 2024 at Ho Chi Minh National University

Candidates can participate in 1 or both examination periods.

Session 1: Sunday morning, April 7, 2024 in 24 provinces/cities including:

- Central and South Central: Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan;

- Central Highlands: Dak Lak, Lam Dong;

- Southeast: Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh;

- Southwest: Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, An Giang, Can Tho, Kien Giang, Bac Lieu.

Session 2: Sunday morning, June 2, 2024 in 12 provinces/cities including:

- Central and South Central: Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa;

- Central Highlands: Dak Lak, Lam Dong;

- Southeast: Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dong Nai, Binh Duong;

- Southwest: Tien Giang, An Giang.

What are regulations on the university admissions method based on academic results and exam results for each subject in Vietnam?

In Article 6 of the university admissions Regulations, the admission of higher education in the field of Preschool Education issued together with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, which stipulates the admission methods as follows:

3. For the admission method based on academic performance and exam results in each subject (including the overall grades of high school subjects, the exam scores of high school graduation subjects, and other evaluation results):

a) The combination of subjects used for admission must include at least 3 subjects that are suitable for the characteristics and requirements of the training program (each subject may have a coefficient), including either mathematics or literature;

b) One major, one training program can use multiple combinations of subjects, in which the score difference between combinations may be determined when determining admission conditions;

c) No more than 4 admission combinations should be used for one major, one training program (except in cases where the combinations only differ in foreign language subjects).

4. For a major, a training program with specific quotas for each admission method or combination:

a) The allocation of quotas among admission methods, combinations must be based on reasonable grounds; it should not cause unfairness to candidates choosing different admission methods, combinations;

b) Changes, additions to admission methods or combinations must have reasonable grounds and a clear plan; it should not reduce the allocation ratio of an admission method, combination used in the previous year by more than 30% (in the quota structure of the major, training program), except in cases where the changes, additions have been announced before the registration period for at least 1 year.

Therefore, the university admissions method based on academic performance and exam results in each subject is regulated as follows:

Is it possible to reserve the university admissions results in Vietnam?

In Article 10 of the university admissions Regulations, the admission of higher education in the field of Preschool Education issued together with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, which stipulates that candidates can reserve their university admissions results in the following cases:

(1) Performing military service or participating in youth volunteer activities immediately after being admitted according to a decision or order of the competent authority.

(2) Being seriously ill or having a serious accident that prevents them from enrolling on time, with medical records and confirmation from the competent medical authority.

- Candidates eligible for reserving their university admissions results must submit an application for reservation along with supporting documents to the calling educational institution. The maximum period for reserving results is determined by the educational institution, but it must not be less than 3 years for those performing military service or participating in youth volunteer activities immediately after being admitted.

- As soon as they meet the conditions for returning to school, those who have reserved their university admissions results must complete the enrollment procedures according to the regulations of the educational institution, including providing evidence of completing their duties or undergoing recovery treatment.

- For cases where the period of reserving results for military service or youth volunteer activities is 3 years or more, the educational institution will consider recommending them to preparatory university programs or classes for review before formal enrollment.
