When does the registration for university admission preferences for 2024 start in Vietnam?
On March 15, 2024, the Ministry of Education and Training organized the 2024 admission conference and announced the draft Plan to implement university and college admission to preschool education in 2024.
According to the plan, from July 10, 2024, until 5:00 PM on July 25, 2024, candidates will be able to register their university admission preferences and make unlimited adjustments and additions to their preferences.
The registration method and the expected confirmation of enrollment are as follows:
- Registration method: Online registration on the System or on the National Public Service Portal;
+ Register by field/program and be ranked from 1 to the end (preference 1 is the highest preference).
- Fee payment period: from July 28, 2024, until 5:00 PM on August 3, 2024.
- Confirmation of enrollment through direct admission: from July 5, 2024, until 5:00 PM on August 5, 2024.
- Deadline for confirming enrollment in the first round: 5:00 PM on August 8, 2024.
Please note that the Ministry of Education and Training has not officially announced the schedule for registering university admission preferences for 2024. The information mentioned above is part of the draft Plan to implement university and college admission to preschool education in 2024, which is currently being reviewed.

Therefore, the current target of higher education aims to train human resources, enhance intellectual capacity, nurture talents, generate knowledge and new products to serve the requirements of socio-economic development, ensure national defense, security, and international integration.
In addition, higher education also aims to train learners with political qualities, ethics, knowledge, practical skills in their professions, research capacity, and development of applied science and technology corresponding to their level of education.
Furthermore, higher education aims to train students with good health, creativity, professional responsibility, adaptability to the working environment, and a sense of serving the people.
For university-level training, the target is to equip students with comprehensive professional knowledge, a solid grasp of natural and social principles and laws, basic practical skills, the ability to work independently, creatively, and solve problems in their trained fields.
What are regulations on the organizational structure of a parent university in Vietnam?
Based on Article 15 of the 2012 Law on Higher Education, amended by Article 9 of the 2018 Law on Higher Education, the organizational structure of a parent university consists of:
- The school council;
- The principal and vice-principals;
- The science and training council; other councils (if any);
- Affiliated universities and research institutes (if any); schools, boards, science and technology organizations, library and other organizations serving training activities;
- Faculties, campuses, research institutes, service facilities, centers, enterprises, business establishments and other units (if any) necessary for development of the parent university.
