a) Primary education is conducted over 5 school years, from grade one to the end of grade five. The age of students entering grade one is 6 years old, calculated by year;
b) Lower secondary education is conducted over 4 school years, from grade six to the end of grade nine. Students entering grade six must have completed primary education. The age of students entering grade six is 11 years old, calculated by year;
c) Upper secondary education is conducted over 3 school years, from grade ten to the end of grade twelve. Students entering grade ten must have a lower secondary education diploma. The age of students entering grade ten is 15 years old, calculated by year;
- Exceptions where students can study ahead of their grade or at an older age than the regulated age as specified in Section 1 of this Article include:
a) Students who study ahead of their grade due to early intellectual development;
b) Students who study at an older age than the regulated age due to repeating a grade, being in areas with particularly challenging socio-economic conditions, being from ethnic minorities, being disabled, having physical or intellectual developmental delays, being orphans without support, being from poor households, returning from abroad, and other cases as stipulated by law.
