When is the parent-teacher meeting organized in Vietnam?
According to Article 9 of the Charter of the Parent Representative Committee issued with Circular 55/2011/TT-BGDDT, the activities of the parents and the Parent Representative Committee are specified as follows:
Article 9. Activities of Parents and the Parent Representative Committee
- Meetings of all parents:
a) At the beginning of the school year, the class homeroom teacher organizes a meeting of all parents to elect the class student representative committee with the number of members specified at Point a, Clause 1, Article 3 of this Charter. During the school year, hold meetings of all class parents three times: at the beginning of the school year, at the end of the first semester, and at the end of the school year, and hold extraordinary meetings when at least 50% of the class parents request it;
b) The decision to hold or not to hold a meeting of all school parents is made by the school Parent Representative Committee.
- Meetings of the Parent Representative Committee:
a) At the beginning of the school year, the class homeroom teacher convenes the first meeting of the class Parent Representative Committee to elect a head and deputy head. After election, the head directs the meeting of all class parents to approve the activity program for the whole school year.
The class Parent Representative Committee organizes regular meetings according to the year's activity program and can hold extraordinary meetings when at least 50% of the parents request it or when the class Parent Representative Committee head decides;

According to the above regulations, the parent-teacher meeting will be organized at the following events: at the beginning of the school year, at the end of the first semester, and at the end of the school year, and an extraordinary meeting will be held when at least 50% of the class parents request it.
The decision to hold or not to hold a meeting of all school parents is made by the school Parent Representative Committee.
What are rights of parents in Vietnam?
According to Clause 2, Article 8 of the Charter of the Parent Representative Committee issued with Circular 55/2011/TT-BGDDT, the responsibilities and rights of parents are as follows:

- Rights of Parents
a) Parents have the rights stipulated in Article 95 of the Education Law and the right to propose that the school creates favorable conditions for their children to study and train;
b) The right to self-nominate or be nominated to the class Parent Representative Committee;
c) The right to decline support when the class Parent Representative Committee or the school Parent Representative Committee proposes contributions unless the parent is willing;
d) The right to implement or not implement those matters which have not reached consensus in the meeting of all parents or the Parent Representative Committee meeting.
According to the above regulations, parents have the following rights:
- Request the school to inform about the study and training results of their children or wards;
- Participate in educational activities according to the school's plan; participate in parents' activities within the school;
- Request the school, educational management authorities to resolve legal matters relating to the education of their children or wards.
- Have the right to propose that the school creates favorable conditions for their children to study and train;
- The right to self-nominate or be nominated to the class Parent Representative Committee;
- The right to decline support when the class Parent Representative Committee or the school Parent Representative Committee proposes contributions unless the parent is willing.
- The right to implement or not implement those matters which have not reached consensus in the meeting of all parents or the Parent Representative Committee meeting.
