Hanoi will organize the grade 10 admission exam for the year 2025 over two days, June 7-8, which is three days earlier than last year. The examination consists of three subjects, with Mathematics and Literature being mandatory. On the morning of June 7, candidates will take the Literature exam lasting 120 minutes, and in the afternoon, they will take the third subject, which lasts either 60 or 90 minutes. On the morning of June 8, candidates only take the Mathematics exam, with a duration of 120 minutes. The admission score is the total score of the three subjects, each graded on a scale of 10, not weighted, along with priority points, and encouragement points (if any).
Students registering for specialized schools will take an additional specialized subject test on June 9, with a duration of 150 minutes. The admission score is the total of four subjects, with the specialized subject counted twice.

Based on Article 14 of the Regulations on Secondary and High School Admission issued with Circular 30/2024/TT-BGDDT on direct admission and priority admission policies for high schools:
Article 14. Direct Admission and Priority Admission Policies for High Schools
- Direct admission to high schools for the following subjects:
a) Students of ethnic boarding secondary schools.
b) Students of very few ethnic minorities.
c) Students with disabilities.
d) Secondary school students achieving national level awards organized by the Ministry of Education and Training or in cooperation with Ministers and ministries’ equivalent agencies on a nationwide scale in competitions, contests, and festivals (hereafter collectively referred to as competitions) related to culture, arts, sports; scientific research and technical competitions.
dd) Secondary school students achieving awards in international competitions as decided by the Minister of Education and Training to participate.

Priority points are added to the total admission score calculated on a scale of 10 (ten) for each subject. Group 1: 2.0 points; Group 2: 1.5 points; Group 3: 1.0 point.

What is the age of students entering the grade 10 in Vietnam?
Based on Article 28 of the Law on Education 2019 on educational levels and age for general education:
Article 28. Educational Levels and Age for General Education
- Educational levels and age for general education are regulated as follows:
a) Primary education is conducted over 05 academic years, from grade one through grade five. The age for first graders is 06 years, counted by year;
b) Lower secondary education is conducted over 04 academic years, from grade six through grade nine. Students must complete primary education to enter grade six. The age for entering grade six is 11 years, counted by year;
c) Upper secondary education is conducted over 03 academic years, from grade ten through grade twelve. Students must hold a lower secondary diploma to enter grade ten. The age for entering grade ten is 15 years, counted by year.

According to the above regulation, the age for students entering tenth grade is 15 years, counted by year. However, students are allowed to skip grades or be older than the stipulated age in the following cases:
- Students skipping grades in the case of early development in intelligence
- Students being older than the stipulated age due to repeating a grade, those in areas with especially difficult socio-economic conditions, ethnic minority students, students with disabilities, students with delayed physical or intellectual development, orphans without a shelter, students from poor households, students returning from abroad, and other cases according to law.
