Levels and calculation methods
1. Levels of preferential allowances for teachers
a) A 25% preferential allowance is applied to teachers who are directly teaching in universities, colleges, academies, training schools of ministries, ministerial-level agencies, agencies under the Government, political organizations, and socio-political organizations in the center and political schools of provinces and centrally run cities (excluding teachers teaching in teacher training schools, faculties of education, and teachers teaching the subjects of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's Thought);
b) A 30% preferential allowance is applied to teachers who are directly teaching in secondary schools, high schools, technical-vocational centers, continuing education centers, and vocational training centers in the plains, cities, and towns;
c) A 35% preferential allowance is applied to teachers who are directly teaching in kindergartens and primary schools in the plains, cities, and towns; secondary schools, high schools, technical-vocational centers, continuing education centers, and vocational training centers in mountainous, island, remote, and disadvantaged areas;
d) A 40% preferential allowance is applied to teachers who are directly teaching in teacher training schools, faculties of education (universities, colleges, and secondary schools), schools of educational management and training, and teachers who teach political subjects in vocational schools and vocational training centers;
dd) A 45% preferential allowance is applied to teachers who are directly teaching the subjects of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's Thought in universities and colleges;
e) A 50% preferential allowance is applied to teachers who are directly teaching in kindergartens and primary schools in mountainous, island, remote, and disadvantaged areas.

According to Article 27 of the Regulations on Secondary Schools, High Schools, and High Schools with Multiple Levels issued together with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDĐT, the duties of teachers who are directly teaching in secondary schools include:
- Carry out the tasks of organizing teaching and educational activities according to the educational plan of the school and the educational plan of the subject group;
- Manage students in educational activities organized by the school;
- Participate in professional activities;
- Be responsible for the quality and effectiveness of education.
- Cultivate morality, raise the sense of responsibility, maintain the quality, honor, and prestige of teachers;
- Be a role model for students;
- Love, treat students fairly and respect the personality of students;
- Protect the legitimate rights and interests of students;
- Unite and help colleagues.
- Study and practice to improve health, political level, professional skills, and change teaching methods;
- Participate in training, professional development.
- Participate in the work of universalization of secondary education in the locality.
- Fulfill the citizen's obligations, the regulations of the law and of the Ministry of Education and Training, the decisions of the principal;
- Carry out the tasks assigned by the principal, be subject to the inspection and evaluation of the principal and the educational management levels.
- Coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh Pioneers, the Communist Youth Union of Vietnam, the Vietnam Youth Union, the families of students and relevant social organizations to organize educational activities.
- Carry out other tasks as prescribed by law.
