On January 14, 2025, the Department of Education and Training issued Official Dispatch 257/SGDDT-KHTC of 2025 regarding gifts for officials, public employees, and employees at administrative agencies and public service providers under the Department of Education and Training for Lunar New Year in 2025.
The expenditure for gifts for officials, public employees, and employees at administrative agencies and public service providers under the Department of Education and Training for Lunar New Year in 2025 is VND 1,800,000 per person.
Funding Sources:
- For public service providers that are self-financing (group 2) and those partially self-financing (group 3), units shall balance from their allocated autonomous funds and internal revenue to cover the Tet gifts for their staff, public employees, and employees.
- For administrative agencies and public service providers funded by the State for regular expenses (group 4), the City budget will supplement the funding estimates to provide Tet gifts for officials, public employees, and employees. Initially, units are to implement Tet gift allowances from the funds allocated in the 2025 budget estimates. At the same time, they should submit requests for additional 2025 budget estimates (for non-autonomous funds and irregular expense funds), along with the January 2025 salary table to substantiate the additional funding estimate to the Department of Education and Training before January 20, 2025.

What is the holiday schedule for Lunar New Year in 2025 for officials and public employees in Vietnam?
According to Notice 6150/TB-BLDTBXH of 2024 concerning the Lunar New Year, National Day holidays, Victory Day on April 30, and International Labor Day on May 1 of 2025 for officials, public employees, and employees:
- Officials, public employees, and employees at administrative agencies, career organizations, political organizations, and socio-political organizations (hereinafter referred to as officials and public employees) are granted leave during the Lunar New Year of 2025 from Saturday, January 25, 2025 (equivalent to December 26 of the Year of the Dragon) to the end of Sunday, February 2, 2025 (equivalent to the 5th day of the Lunar New Year of the Snake). This period includes 5 days of the Lunar New Year and 4 weekends.

- For employees not under the provision of Clause 1 of this Notice, employers decide the approach to leave for the Lunar New Year, National Day, Victory Day on April 30, and International Labor Day on May 1 of 2025 as follows:
- For the Lunar New Year: choose either 1 day at the end of the Year of the Dragon and 4 days at the beginning of the Year of the Snake or 2 days at the end of the Year of the Dragon and 3 days at the beginning of the Year of the Snake or 3 days at the end of the Year of the Dragon and 2 days at the beginning of the Year of the Snake.
- For National Day: Tuesday, September 2, 2025, and choose one of the two days: Monday, September 1, 2025, or Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
- Notify employees of the Lunar New Year and National Day holiday plan at least 30 days before implementing.
- If the weekly rest day coincides with a holiday as prescribed in Clause 1, Article 112 of the Labor Code, employees are entitled to a compensatory rest day on the subsequent working day as per Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.
- Employers are encouraged to apply the same holiday schedule for the Lunar New Year, National Day, Victory Day on April 30, and International Labor Day on May 1 of 2025 for employees as for officials and public employees.
