In Subsection 7, Section 1 of Official Dispatch 1957/BGDDT-GDDH in 2024, guidance on the high school graduation exam is outlined as follows:
I. For Candidates

- Registration and Handling of Aspiration Requests:
a) From July 18 to 17:00 on July 30, 2024, candidates can register, adjust, and supplement their application aspirations unlimited times:
- Candidates use their issued account to process information (enter, view, edit) on the System;
- Registration for applications in various fields/programs must be done online through the System or through the National Public Service Portal (Guidance content is available on the System or the National Public Service Portal);
- Candidates' aspirations for admission to all educational institutions are registered according to fields/programs and ranked from 1 to the last (aspiration 1 being the highest). Candidates must provide data (according to criteria, conditions, registration procedures specified in the educational institutions regulations) corresponding to the field/program they have applied for, which educational institutions will use for selection (detailed registration steps are posted on the System for candidates to access for registration);
- All candidates' aspiration requests for educational institutions are processed on the System, and each candidate will be admitted to only one highest-ranked aspiration among their registered aspirations if they meet the admission conditions;
- Candidates who have completed early selection into educational institutions according to the educational institutions' early admission plan, if they meet the conditions (excluding high school graduation) must continue to register aspirations on the System to be considered for admission.
Therefore, the deadline for changing aspirations after the publication of results of the 2024 High School Graduation Exam is from July 18 to 17:00 on July 30, 2024.

What are the conditions to be recognized for high school graduation in Vietnam?
According to Article 42 of the Regulation on High School Graduation Exams issued along with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, the recognition of high school graduation is stipulated as follows:
Recognition of High School Graduation
Candidates who meet the exam eligibility conditions, are not disciplined with exam result cancellation, all exams, and components of the combined exam registered for graduation recognition achieve over 1.0 points on a 10-point scale, and have a graduation exam score of 5.0 (five) points or higher will be recognized for high school graduation.
Candidates who meet the exam eligibility conditions, are exempted from all exams in high school graduation consideration according to Article 36 of this Regulation will be recognized for high school graduation.
Therefore, the conditions for high school graduation recognition are:
- Candidates meet the exam eligibility conditions.
- Candidates are not disciplined with exam result cancellation.
- All exams and components of the combined exam registered for graduation recognition achieve over 1.0 points on a 10-point scale, and candidates have a graduation exam score of 5.0 (five) points or higher to be recognized for high school graduation.
- Candidates who meet the exam eligibility conditions, exempted from all exams in high school graduation consideration according to regulations, will be recognized for high school graduation.
What are principles for university admission in Vietnam?
According to Clause 3, Article 20 of the Regulation on University Admission, and Admission to Kindergarten Teacher Training Colleges issued along with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, the principles for university admission are as follows:
- Admission scores are determined to ensure the number of enrollments for each field, training program matches the announced quota and is not lower than the threshold score;
- For a specific training field (or training program) by a method and subject combination, all candidates are equally considered based on their application scores regardless of the priority order of registered aspirations, except in the following case:
If many candidates have the same application score at the end of the list, the educational institution can use the tie-breaking criterion of higher aspiration order (to select candidates with higher aspiration order);
- The use of regional and subject-based priority points in admission must be consistently and uniformly applied as per the priority point regulations.
