International Mother Language Day is recognized by UNESCO and celebrated annually on February 21. This is an occasion to honor and preserve the mother tongues of peoples around the world and to emphasize the important role of language in building and maintaining the cultural identity of each community.

Mother tongue is the medium through which the soul, culture, and history of each nation are conveyed. International Mother Language Day is intended to acknowledge the value of indigenous languages, helping to preserve and promote unique traditional cultural values.

Organizing International Mother Language Day not only serves as an occasion to praise and protect languages but also as an opportunity for the international community to share, learn, and develop cultural diversity together. It also serves as a reminder that each language carries spiritual and historical values which, if lost, equate to a significant portion of our human heritage disappearing.

Therefore, February 21 is International Mother Language Day. According to the Perpetual Calendar, February 21, 2025 corresponds to January 24, 2025, in the Lunar calendar.
