      Based on Article 6 of the Regulations on the admission to lower and upper secondary schools issued together with Circular 11/2014/TT-BGDDT amended by Article 2 of Circular 05/2018/TT-BGDDT regulating the application for admission to tenth grade as follows:

      Admission application

      1. A valid copy of the birth certificate.

      2. High school diploma or temporary high school diploma certificate or a copy of the high school diploma.

      3. High school report card.

      4. Confirmation letter of priority regime issued by the competent authority (if any).

      5. Confirmation letter issued by the commune, ward, town People's Committee (for students who have graduated from lower secondary school in previous school years) not under criminal detention; not undergoing reform without detention or violating the law.

      Therefore, candidates applying for admission to tenth grade in the school year 2024-2025 need to submit an admission profile including the following documents:

      - A valid copy of the birth certificate.

      - High school diploma or temporary high school diploma certificate or a copy of the high school diploma.

      - High school report card.

      - Confirmation letter of priority regime issued by the competent authority if eligible for priority.

      What are entry ages of students in general education in Vietnam?

      Based on Clause 1, Article 28 of the 2019 Education Law, the regulations are as follows:

      Educational levels and entry ages

      1. Educational levels and age groups of general education are regulated as follows:

      a) Primary education lasts for 05 school years, from the first to the fifth grade. The entry age for the first grade is 06;

      b) Lower secondary education lasts for 04 school years, from the sixth to the ninth grade. Students must complete the primary educational programme before entering the sixth grade. The entry age for the sixth grade is 11;

      c) Upper secondary education lasts for 03 school years, from the tenth to the twelfth grade. Students must complete the lower secondary educational programme before entering the tenth grade. The entry age for the tenth grade is 15;

      2. Cases where schooling could be commenced at younger ages or at higher ages prescribed in clause 1 of this Article are as follows:

      a) Commencing schooling at younger ages for students with early intellectual development;

      b) Commencing schooling at older ages for students repeating classes, students living in areas with exceptional socio-economic difficulties, students belonging to ethnic minorities, disabled and handicapped students, students with physical or intellectual disadvantages, orphan students, students of poor households, students returning from overseas and other cases as prescribed by law.

      3. General education shall be divided into 2 phases: basic education and career-orientated education. Basic education includes primary education and lower secondary education; career-oriented education is upper secondary education. Students of institutions of vocational education shall learn the upper secondary education knowledge.

      4. The Minister of Education and Training shall stipulate the teaching and learning of the Vietnamese language to children of ethnic minorities prior to the commencement of the first grade; the teaching of the upper secondary education knowledge in institutions of vocational education; and the cases as prescribed in clause 2 of this Article.

      Therefore, except for some special cases specified in Clause 2 of Article 28 of the 2019 Education Law, the entry ages of students in general education under normal circumstances are determined as follows:

      - The entry age for the first grade is 06.

      - The entry age for the sixth grade is 11.

      - The entry age for the tenth grade is 15.

      According to the regulation, the Department of Education and Training determines the additional points for each group of priority candidates, with a difference of 0.5 points between the two consecutive priority groups, based on a 10-point scale, including:

      Priority Group 1:

      - Children of martyrs.

      - Children of disabled veterans with a disability rate of 81% or higher.

      - Children of disabled soldiers with a disability rate of 81% or higher.

      - Children of individuals involved in the resistance war who were exposed to chemical toxins.

      - Children of individuals involved in the revolutionary movement before January 1, 1945.

      - Children of individuals involved in the revolutionary movement from January 1, 1945 to the August Revolution in 1945.

      - Children of a person who is granted a Certificate of people enjoying policies like these war invalids and the person who is granted a Certificate of people enjoying policies like these war invalids has a reduced working capacity of less than 81%.

      Priority Group 2:

      - Students from very small ethnic groups.
