What Are the Rights and Responsibilities of a Doctoral Student?
According to Article 12 of the Regulations on Admission and Training at Doctoral Level issued with Circular 18/2021/TT-BGDDT (Effective from August 15, 2021), which stipulates the rights and responsibilities of doctoral candidates during the training process, specifically:
Doctoral candidates have the following rights and responsibilities:
Exercise rights and responsibilities as prescribed in Articles 60 and 61 of the Law on Higher Education (amended and supplemented in 2018).
Develop and propose a detailed annual study and research plan based on the comprehensive plan approved in the decision recognizing the doctoral candidate, including a plan for working and reporting to the advisor; execute the plan approved by the advisor and the academic unit; periodically report every 06 months on the progress and results of study and research to the academic unit; propose changes to the study and research process to the advisor and the academic unit.
Participate in scientific activities at the academic unit like a teaching assistant or regular researcher; participate in the implementation of tasks and research projects assigned by the advisor.
Adhere to the training institution's regulations on academic integrity, ensuring that published results originate from personal research with the advisor's support; fully acknowledge and cite the participation of other individuals, groups, or organizations (if any).
Exercise other rights and responsibilities according to the regulations of the training institution.
