According to Clause 4, Article 54 of the Regulations on the High School Graduation Examination issued together with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, the penalties for candidates who violate the examination regulations are as follows:

Penalties for candidates who violate the examination regulations:

All violations of the examination regulations will be recorded in a report, disciplined, and notified to the candidates.

4. Deduction of examination scores:

a) Candidates who receive a reprimand during any examination will have 25% of the total score for that specific examination deducted.

b) Candidates who receive a warning during any examination will have 50% of the total score for that specific examination deducted.

c) Examinations marked as detected during the grading process will have 50% of the total score deducted.

d) Awarding a score of 0 (zero): Examinations that are copied from unauthorized materials into the examination room; having two or more exams for one subject; exams with writing from two or more people; parts of the exam written on draft paper or paper that does not meet the regulations.

dd) Candidates who are suspended from an examination will receive a score of 0 (zero) for that specific examination and will not be allowed to continue with subsequent examinations.

e) The deduction of examination scores mentioned in points c and d above is decided by the Chief Examiner of the essay section based on a written report from the Chief Examiner of the essay section.

5. Cancellation of examination results for candidates: Having two or more exams with a score of 0 (zero) due to violations specified in point d of Clause 4 of this Article; writing or drawing unrelated content on the examination paper; having someone else take the exam or complete the exam on behalf of another person in any form; making alterations or additions to the exam after submission; submitting someone else's work. The decision to cancel the examination results is based on a written report from the Chairman of the Examination Council and the Director of the Department of Education and Training.

6. Cancellation of examination results and the establishment of a file to be sent to the competent authority for consideration and handling according to the regulations of the law for candidates who violate one of the following offenses:

a) Falsifying documents to enjoy preferential treatment or incentives.

b) Using illegal diplomas or certificates.

c) Having someone else take the exam or complete the exam on behalf of another person in any form.

d) Engaging in disruptive or destructive actions during the examination; physically assaulting those involved in the organization of the examination or other candidates.

e) Using an illegally obtained certificate of examination results.

7. For violations that show signs of criminal offenses, educational management agencies will establish files to be sent to the competent authority for criminal liability investigation and prosecution as prescribed. For other violation cases, the disciplinary actions will be determined based on the nature and severity of the offense as specified in this Article.

As regulated above, candidates who violate the high school graduation examination regulations will have their scores deducted as follows:

- Reprimand: 25% of the total score for that specific examination will be deducted.

- Warning: 50% of the total score for that specific examination will be deducted.

- Examinations marked as detected during the grading process will have 50% of the total score deducted.

How many subjects are included in the high school graduation examination in 2024 in Vietnam?

According to Article 3 of the Regulations on the High School Graduation Examination issued together with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT (amended and supplemented by Article 1 of Circular 02/2024/TT-BGDDT), the examination consists of the following:

Examination subjects:

The examination consists of 5 (five) separate examinations, including: 3 (three) independent examinations in Mathematics, Literature, and Foreign Language (English, Russian, French, Chinese, German, Japanese, and Korean); 1 (one) combination examination in Natural Sciences consisting of the component subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Biology; 1 (one) combination examination in Social Sciences consisting of the component subjects History, Geography, and Civic Education for candidates studying the high school education program or the component subjects History and Geography for candidates studying the continuing education program at the high school level.

As regulated above, the high school graduation examination in 2024 consists of 3 independent examinations:

- Mathematics

- Literature

- Foreign Language

- 1 combination examination in Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)

- 1 combination examination in Social Sciences (History, Geography, Civic Education)

Note: For candidates studying the continuing education program at the high school level, the component subjects are History and Geography.

In which case are candidates exempted from taking all the examinations of the high school graduation examination in 2024 in Vietnam?

According to Article 36 of the Regulations on the High School Graduation Examination issued together with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, candidates are exempted from taking all the examinations of the high school graduation examination in 2024 in the following cases:

Case 1: Individuals summoned to participate in the national team selection examination for international or regional cultural Olympics;

Conditions:

- Summoned in the second semester of grade 12;

- Academic performance in grade 12 with a good overall evaluation and a performance level of at least "good";

- Name listed in the exemption list issued by the Ministry of Education and Training.

Case 2: Individuals in the team participating in international or regional Olympics in the fields of science, technology, culture, and arts;

Conditions:

- Summoned in the second semester of grade 12;

- Academic performance in grade 12 with a satisfactory overall evaluation and a performance level of at least "average";

- Name listed in the official document requesting exemption and confirming participation in training and examination, in accordance with the regulations of the selecting agency sent to the Department of Education and Training before the high school graduation examination.

Case 3: Individuals with severe disabilities and individuals with significant disabilities; veterans of the resistance war who are infected with toxic chemicals and have a work capacity reduction of 61% or more; children of veterans of the resistance war who are infected with toxic chemicals and have a personal work capacity reduction of 61% or more.

Conditions:

- For disabled individuals following the general education program:

+ Complete the high school program;

+ Meet the examination requirements;

+ Have a disability certificate issued by the competent authority.

- For disabled individuals who cannot meet the requirements of the general education program:

+ Have the Principal of the high school where they are enrolled confirm the results of implementing the Individual Education Plan for each year at the high school level;

+ Have a disability certificate issued by the competent authority.

- For veterans of the resistance war and children of veterans of the resistance war who are infected with toxic chemicals:

+ Complete the high school program;

+ Meet the examination requirements;

+ Have a certificate confirming the infection with toxic chemicals and a work capacity reduction of 61% or more issued by the competent authority.
