What are regulations on application of standard for grading secondary school and high school students in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 21 of the of the Circular 22/2021/TT-BGDĐT stipulating entry into force reagarding application of standard for grading secondary school and high school students in Vietnam as follows:
Entry into force
1. This Circular comes into force from September 5, 2021 according to following roadmap:
- From school year of 2021-2022 for the 6th grade.
- From school year of 2022-2023 for the 7th and 10th grade.
- From school year of 2023-2024 for the 8th and 11th grade.
- From school year of 2024-2025 for the 9th and 12th grade.
2. This Circular replaces Circular 58/2011/TT-BGDDT dated December 12, 2021 of Minister of Education and Training and Circular 26/2020/TT-BGDDT dated August 26, 2020 on amendment to Regulations on assessment and classification of lower secondary students and upper secondary students attached to Circular 58/2011/TT-BGDDT dated December 12, 2021 of Minister of Education and Training according to roadmap under Clause 1 of this Article.
As regulations above, application of standard for grading secondary school and high school students in Vietnam shall be carried out as follows:
- From school year of 2022-2023: the 6th, 7th and 10th grade shall be applied with Circular 22/2021/TT-BGDĐT; the 8th, 9th, 11th and 12th grade shall be applied with Circular 58/2011/TT-BGDDT (amended by Circular 26/2020/TT-BGDDT).
- From school year of 2023-2024: the 6th, 7th, 8th, 10th and 11th grade shall be applied with Circular 22/2021/TT-BGDĐT; the 9th and 12th grade shall be applied with Circular 58/2011/TT-BGDDT (amended by Circular 26/2020/TT-BGDDT).
- From school year of 2024-2025: all grades shall be applied with Circular 22/2021/TT-BGDĐT.

Pursuant to Article 18 of the Regulations on assessment and classification of secondary school and high school students issued together with the Circular 58/2011/TT-BGDDT (amended by Clause 8 Article 1 Circular 26/2020/TT-BGDDT) stipulating Review for the recognition of advanced students as follows:
Review for the recognition of good students, advanced students
1. It shall be recognized good students of the semester or school year, if achieved with good conduct and good learning capacity.
2. It shall be recognized advanced students of the semester or school year, if achieved with conduct of rather good or more and learning capacity of rather good or more.
3. Students who achieve outstanding achievements or make great progress in study and practice are awarded certificates of merit by the Principal.
Pursuant to Clause 2 Article 13 of the Regulations on assessment and classification of secondary school and high school students issued together with the Circular 58/2011/TT-BGDDT (amended by Clause 6 Article 2 Circular 26/2020/TT-BGDDT) stipulating standard for grading semester and the school year as follows:

2. Rather good grade, if it meets the following standard:
a) Grade point average of the subjects from 6.5 points or more in which average point of one of three subjects Mathematics, Literature and Foreign Language shall be from 6.5 or more; separately for students of specialized classes of specialized high schools, it is required to add condition of average point of the specialized subject from 6.5 or more;
b) There are no subjects that grade point average is below 5.0;
c) The subjects evaluated by comments reached S.

Pursuant to Article 4 of the Regulations on assessment and classification of secondary school and high school students issued together with the Circular 58/2011/TT-BGDDT stipulating standards for classification of conduct as follows:
Standards for classification of conduct
1. Good grade:
a) Strictly observing the rules of the school; strictly observing the laws and regulations on order and social safety, traffic safety; actively involving in fighting against the negative action, prevention and combat of crime, social evils;
b) Always respecting teachers, and adults; love and help young children, having sense to build the collective, uniting, being trusted by friends;
c) Positively training morality, having a healthy, simple, unpretentious lifestyle; helping, caring for families;
d) Completing fully the task of learning, having sense of striving, honesty in life, in study;
đ) Actively doing exercise, keeping hygiene and protecting environment;
e) Fully participating in educational activities, activities organized by the schools; actively participating in the activities of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers, Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh Communist;
g) Having attitudes and appropriate behavior in training ethic, lifestyle according to contents of the citizen education subject.
2. Rather good grade:
Implementing the provisions in clause 1 of this Article but having not reached the level of Good; incomplete but timely taking remedy after the teachers and friends comment.
As regulations above, students shall be recognized as advanced students of the semester or school year, if they achieve conduct of rather good or more and learning capacity of rather good or more.
This regulation shall only be applied with 8th, 9th, 11th and 12th grade in school year of 2022-2023 and 9th and 12th in school year of 2023-2024.
What are latest regulations on commendations applied to secondary school and high school students in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 15 of the of the Circular 22/2021/TT-BGDĐT stipulating commendations as follows:
Commendations
1. Principals shall award certificates of achievement for students
a) End-of-year commendation
- Award the title “Học sinh Xuất sắc” (Excellent student) for students who have obtained Excellent training and learning results for the entire school year and achieved DTBmcn of at least 9.0 in subjects that are assessed via both feedback and scores.
- Award the title “Học sinh Giỏi” (Good student) for students who have obtained Excellent training and learning results for the entire school year.
b) Commend students for having unexpected merits in training and learning in the school year.
2. Students with special achievements shall be considered and requested for commendation by schools.
As regulations above, award the title “Học sinh Xuất sắc” (Excellent student) for students who have obtained Excellent training and learning results for the entire school year and achieved DTBmcn of at least 9.0 in subjects that are assessed via both feedback and scores.
Award the title “Học sinh Giỏi” (Good student) for students who have obtained Excellent training and learning results for the entire school year.
This regulation shall be applied for the 6th, 7th and 10th grade in school year of 2022-2023; the 6th, 7th, 8th, 10th and 11th grade in school year of 2023-2024; and all grades from school year of 2024-2025.
