Vietnam: Is having 48 students in a class in accordance with regulations?
Under Clause 3, Article 16 of the Charter of Lower Secondary Schools, Upper Secondary Schools, and Multi-level Schools issued together with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT on classes:
Chairpersons of provincial People’s Committees in Vietnam shall stipulate the number of students in each class to reduce the number of students in one class; and ensure that each class at the lower secondary or upper secondary level has a maximum of 45 students.
According to this regulation, each class at the lower secondary and upper secondary levels shall have no more than 45 students. Therefore, classes at upper secondary schools shall have a maximum of 45 students, the specific number of students will be determined by the Chairperson of the Provincial People's Committee in Vietnam. Although a classroom may have up to 48 seats, no more than 45 students shall be arranged in one class.
