Title: If the Conduct in Semester I is Weak, Is It Possible to Be Promoted?
According to Article 15 of the Regulations on the evaluation and classification of lower secondary and upper secondary school students promulgated under Circular 58/2011/TT-BGDDT, the conditions for promotion to the next grade are stipulated as follows:
- Students who meet the following conditions are promoted to the next grade:
+ Conduct and academic performance must be at least average or higher;
+ Absences must not exceed 45 days in a school year (whether authorized or unauthorized, continuous or cumulative absences).
- Students who fall into any of the following categories will not be promoted to the next grade:
+ Absences exceeding 45 days in the school year (whether authorized or unauthorized, continuous or cumulative absences);
+ Annual academic performance rated as Poor or both academic and conduct performance rated as Weak for the entire year;
+ Even after being re-examined in certain subjects, if the average score for subjects assessed by points is below 5.0 or subjects assessed by comments are rated as Unsatisfactory, and thus are still not rated as average for the whole year;
+ Conduct for the entire year rated as Weak, and not completing remedial tasks during the summer break, hence still rated as Weak in conduct.
Additionally, Clause 2 of Article 3 of these Regulations states that conduct is classified into 4 categories: Good (G), Fair (F), Average (A), Weak (W) after each semester and for the entire school year. The classification of conduct for the entire school year primarily relies on the conduct rating of the second semester and the student's progress.
Thus, regarding the condition for annual conduct, students must achieve at least an average rating. In your case, even if the conduct rating for the first semester is Weak, if the second semester is assessed as average, fair, or good, you can still be promoted. Therefore, you should make an effort to improve in the second semester.
