On August 15, 2023, the Ministry of Education and Training issued the Official Letter 4337/BGDDT-GDCTHSSV in 2023 guiding the organization of Citizen-Student Activity Week for students in training institutions for the academic year 2023-2024.
As prescribed in the Official Dispatch 4337/BGDĐT-GDCTHSSV in 2023, there are ollowing instructions:
- The duration of the "Citizen-Student Activity Week" in the whole school year shall comply with Decision No. 50/2007/QD-BGDĐT.
- Training institutions can organize the "Citizen - Student Week" into 01 or 02 sessions depending on practical conditions based on the school's training plan.
What are content of the organization of Citizenship Week for students at Universities and Colleges in the academic year 2023-2024 in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Section 2 of Official Letter 4337/BGDDT-GDCTHSSV in 2023 stipulating content of the organization of Citizenship Week for students at universities and colleges in the academic year 2023-2024 as follows:
(1) Political and ideological education for students
- Mastering the basic contents and new points in the documents of the 6th Conference; Results of the 7th Conference of the Party Central Committee, term XIII, according to the guidance of the Central Committee for Propaganda and Education on researching, studying, mastering, propagating and implementing the Resolution of the 13th Party Central Commitee.
- Mastering the basic contents of the Party's Resolutions and Directives related to political and ideological education for students, especially Resolution 35-NQ/TW in 2018 on strengthening protection of the Party's ideological foundation, fighting against wrong and hostile views in the new situation.
- Thoroughly grasp and study the whole course, thematic activities in 2023 on Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style in association with the implementation of the school's political tasks.
- Propaganda on the protection of sea and island sovereignty and Vietnam's maritime strategy.
- Information on outstanding domestic and international current affairs, economic, political and social situations in the first 6 months of 2023.
(2) Disseminating and educating students about the law
- Disseminate and educate the provisions of the law in order to raise students' awareness of human rights, citizenship, rights and interests of students according to the provisions of the 2013 Constitution; Law on Education 2019, Law on Higher Education 2012; Law on Higher Education Amended 2018 and other relevant documents.
- Dissemination and education of legal provisions in order to raise students' awareness and sense of law observance are specified at:
Penal Code 2015; The 2015 Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Penal Code; Law on Road, Railway and Inland Waterway Traffic; Law on Cybersecurity; Youth Law 2020; Law on Drug Prevention and Control 2021; Law on Prevention of Tobacco Harms; Law on Protection of Consumer Rights 2010; Intellectual property law; Law on Prevention and Combat of Human Trafficking; Law on Anti-corruption and other relevant documents.
(3) Disseminate regulations on students' rights, obligations, regimes and policies; relevant rules and regulations.
Equipping students with the necessary knowledge at the time of admission, including:
- Legal documents regulating the rights and obligations of students; regulations on student regimes and policies; regulations and regulations on training, student work, Union and Association work, school counseling;
- The work of ensuring security, order and safety of the school; school social work; rules, regulations, and key tasks of the school.
(4) Organize educational activities by thematic.
- Introduce about industry, profession, training program, school counseling for students; guiding students to participate in clubs, activities, cultural and artistic programs, activities for the community, for society; training programs and activities.
- Guide to effective university study methods; skills of integration in a new environment, entrepreneurial skills, innovation, scientific research.
- Organizing activities for students to emulate and practice; arousing dreams, ambitions, wills and aspirations to rise up and establish a business.
- Traditional education, professional ethics; vocational skills, employment; innovative entrepreneurial skills; teamwork skills, time management skills, problem solving skills, development of cognitive skills, social skills, emotional management and resume writing skills.
- Education against corruption; equip students with knowledge and skills for international integration.
- Other topics according to the school's plan and practice.
What is the minimum time for the Citizenship - Students Week in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 9 of the Regulation on the education of political, moral and lifestyle qualities for pupils and students in universities, colleges and professional secondary schools issued together with Decision 50/2007/QD-BGDDT stipulating as follows:
Time
1. In a school year, the total amount of extra-curricular time devoted to the implementation of the content of education on political, moral and lifestyle qualities for pupils and students is at least 10 sessions, each session is specified in 5 periods.
2. The duration for the Week of Citizenship - Students is at least 5 sessions, the remaining 5 sessions are for other contents throughout the school year.
Thus, the minimum time for the Week of Citizens - Students and Students is 5 sessions, the remaining 5 sessions are for other contents throughout the school year.
