Specific Additional University Admission Points by Region
Pursuant to Clause 4, Article 7 of Circular 05/2017/TT-BGDDT, the priority policy by area is stipulated as follows:
The admission areas are divided as follows:
Area 1 (KV1) includes:
Communes in Areas I, II, III belonging to ethnic and mountainous regions according to current regulations corresponding to the high school or intermediate education period of the candidate; particularly difficult communes in coastal and island areas; particularly difficult communes, border communes, and safety zone communes under the investment area of Program 135 according to the regulations of the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam.
- Area 2 - Rural (KV2-NT) includes:
Localities not belonging to KV1, KV2, KV3;
- Area 2 (KV2) includes:
District-level towns, provincial cities; district-level towns, suburban districts of centrally-run cities (excluding communes belonging to KV1);
- Area 3 (KV3) includes:
Urban districts of centrally-run cities. Candidates in KV3 are not eligible for area priority.
Clause 7, Article 1 of Circular 07/2018/TT-BGDDT stipulates:
The priority score framework by subjects and areas: The score difference between two consecutive subject groups is 1.0 (one point), and between two consecutive areas is 0.25 (a quarter of a point) corresponding to the total score of 3 exams/subjects (in the combination of subjects for admission) not multiplied by the coefficient on a 10-point scale.
Thus, candidates in Area 2 (KV2) will be awarded an additional 0.25 points for university admission, candidates in Area 2 - Rural (KV2-NT) will receive an additional 0.5 points, and candidates in Area 1 (KV1) will receive an additional 0.75 points.
