Regulations on the Vice Principal of Primary School: How Are They Defined?
Regulations regarding the Vice Principal of an elementary school are specified in Clause 2, Article 11 of the Charter issued together with Circular 28/2020/TT-BGDDT. To be specific:
- The Vice Principal assists the principal and is responsible to the principal; undertakes tasks assigned by the principal; manages the school’s activities when authorized by the principal.
- A person appointed as Vice Principal for a public school or recognized as Vice Principal for a private school must meet the highest level of the professional standards for teachers in primary education institutions; must have the capability to perform tasks assigned by the principal and meet the following requirements: must have the standard training level for teachers as stipulated by the Law on Education for primary level; must have taught for at least 5 years (or 4 years in mountainous areas, islands, highlands, remote or isolated areas, ethnic minority regions, and areas with exceptionally difficult socio-economic conditions) at the primary level.
- The tenure of a Vice Principal in a primary school is 5 years. After each school year, the Vice Principal is reviewed by the principal, public employees, and staff members in the school, and evaluated by competent authorities according to regulations.
