Regulations on the Recognition of Study Results and Credit Transfer for Master's Degree Level
Pursuant to Article 4 of the Enrollment and Training Regulations at the Master's Level promulgated together with Circular 23/2021/TT-BGDDT (Effective from October 15, 2021) which stipulates the recognition of study results and credit transfer as follows:
Learners are considered for recognition and credit transfer of certain modules if they have studied another master's training program or have graduated from a specialized intensive training program as prescribed in Article 14 of Decree No. 99/2019/ND-CP dated December 30, 2019, of the Government of Vietnam detailing and guiding the implementation of certain articles of the Law amending and supplementing certain articles of the Law on Higher Education. The number of credits recognized and transferred shall not exceed 30 credits.
Students who are studying an undergraduate program (or equivalent level and above) with an academic performance rated as good or higher based on cumulative GPA and other conditions stipulated by the training institution may register to take certain modules of the master's training program at the same training institution. The number of recognized credits shall not exceed 15 credits.
Modules considered for recognition and credit transfer according to the provisions of Clauses 1 and 2 of this Article must meet the following requirements:
a) Meet the output standards, faculty requirements, study volume, and other requirements of the module in the master's training program;b) The assessment score must be from C (or converted equivalent) and above;c) The completion time must not exceed 05 years from the date of consideration for recognition and transfer.
- The training institution's regulations must specify:
a) Conditions, evaluation criteria, procedures for recognizing study results, and credit transfer;b) Conditions and procedures for students to register for modules according to the provisions of Clause 2 of this Article;c) The validity period of the study results for recognition and credit transfer consideration;d) The modules (or groups of modules) and the number of recognized and transferred credits for different learners and training programs.
a) The standard study plan duration for the entire course must be consistent with the duration specified in the National Education System Framework, while ensuring that most learners complete the training program;b) The standard study plan duration for part-time training must be at least 20% longer than the regular training format of the same training program;c) The maximum time for learners to complete the course is specified in the training institution's regulations but shall not exceed 02 times the standard study plan duration for each training format.
