Is Studying Nuclear Engineering Exempt from Tuition Fees?
Article 15 of Decree No. 81/2021/ND-CP (Effective from October 15, 2021) stipulates the categories eligible for tuition fee exemption, including:
- Individuals as stipulated in the Ordinance on Incentives for People with Meritorious Services to the Revolution if currently studying at educational institutions within the national education system.
Students majoring in Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Ideology.

Pupils, students, graduate students, and doctoral candidates studying one of the following specialties: Leprosy, Tuberculosis, Psychiatry, Forensic Medicine, Forensic Psychiatry, and Pathological Anatomy at public medical institutions under state-ordered training quotas.
Pupils and students from very small ethnic minority groups as stipulated in Clause 1, Article 2 of Decree No. 57/2017/ND-CP dated May 9, 2017, of the Government of Vietnam, which regulates the preferential policies for recruitment and support for preschool children, students of very small ethnic minorities in areas with difficult or exceptionally difficult socio-economic conditions according to current regulations of competent authorities.
Learners belonging to the categories of programs and projects eligible for tuition fee exemption as prescribed by the Government of Vietnam.
Graduates of lower secondary education continuing to study at the intermediate level.
Learners at intermediate and college levels, for industries and occupations that are difficult to recruit but society demands according to the list prescribed by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.
Learners in specialized professions to meet economic-social development, national defense, and security requirements according to the Law on Vocational Education. These specialized professions are prescribed by the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam.
According to the above provisions, the nuclear engineering field is not listed as one of the fields eligible for tuition fee exemption. However, depending on economic-social development, national defense, and security requirements, if the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam stipulates it as a specialized profession, you will be eligible for tuition fee exemption.
