Is Participation in Provincial HKPD recognized for Additional University Admission Points?
At present, there is no regulation stipulating that winners of the Provincial Sports Festival will be given priority points for university admissions. You may refer to Article 7 of the Regulations on university-level admissions; admissions for the preschool education major at the college level are issued along with Circular 09/2020/TT-BGDDT, which stipulates policies on priority in admissions.
However, Article 40 of the Regulations on high school graduation exams issued along with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT (amended in Clause 14, Article 1 of Circular 05/2021/TT-BGDDT) specifies:
Learners participating in the below-mentioned competitions and activities shall be given encouragement points added to their high school graduation assessment:
Winning individual and team prizes in competitions on practical lab experiments in Physics, Chemistry, Biology; art performances; sports; national defense education contests; science and technology competitions; international letter-writing competitions organized by the Education sector in cooperation with specialized sectors from provincial level and above at the high school level. For individual prizes: winning first, second, or third prizes at the national level or first prize at the provincial level or Gold Medal will be given 2.0 points; consolation prize at the national level or fourth prize in a national-level science and technology competition or second prize at the provincial level or Silver Medal will be given 1.5 points; third prize at the provincial level or Bronze Medal will be given 1.0 points. For team prizes: points are added only for national-level prizes; the number of players, athletes, and performers in the team prize according to specific regulations of each competition’s Organizing Committee; the level of encouragement points given to individuals in the team follows the same regulations as for individual prizes specified at this point. Learners who win multiple different prizes in various competitions are entitled to only one highest prize level.
Thus, based on the above regulations, in this case, you will be awarded 2.0 points when considering high school graduation.
