Is It Necessary to Repeat 12th Grade After Failing University Entrance Exams?
According to Clause 1, Article 12 of the High School Graduation Examination Regulations issued together with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, the following stipulations are provided:
- Exam candidates include:
a) Individuals who have completed the high school program in the year the exam is held;
b) Individuals who have completed the high school program but have not yet taken or have taken but not yet passed the high school graduation exam in previous years;
c) Individuals who already have a High School Graduation Certificate, or a Secondary School Graduation Certificate taking the exam to use the results as a basis for university application;
d) Some other special cases decided by the Minister of Education and Training.
According to Clause 5, Article 22 of the Regulations on Secondary Schools, High Schools, and Multi-level Schools issued together with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT, the following stipulations are provided:
Students who have completed the high school program and meet the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Training are eligible to take the graduation exam. If they pass, they will be granted a high school graduation certificate by the Director of the Department of Education and Training. Students who have completed the high school program and meet the exam eligibility requirements of the Ministry of Education and Training, but do not attend the graduation exam or fail the graduation exam, will be granted a certificate of completion of the general education program by the principal.
Based on the above regulations, if you have passed the high school graduation exam but failed the university entrance exam, you do not need to retake the 12th grade because you already have a high school graduation certificate (having completed the high school program). You can wait for the next year's exam to participate in the examination.
Sincerely!
