Is annual leave included in the summer vacation for public school teachers in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Clause 3, Article 5 of the Regulations on working hours for public school teachers issued together with Circular 28/2009/TT-BGDĐT (amended by Clause 4, Article 1 of Circular 15/2017/TT-BGDĐT) stipulating working hours and annual leave as follows:
3. The annual leave of teachers includes: summer vacation, Tet holiday, semester break, and other days off, specifically as follows:
a) The annual summer vacation for teachers is 2 months (including annual leave according to the Labor Code), with full salary and allowances (if any);
b) The Tet holiday and semester break are regulated by the Minister of Education and Training;
c) Other days off are regulated by the Labor Code.
Based on the school year plan, scale, characteristics, and specific conditions of each school, the Principal shall arrange annual leave for teachers in a reasonable manner in accordance with regulations.
According to the above regulations, annual leave is included in the summer vacation of public school teachers. During this time, teachers still receive their full salary and allowances (if any) in accordance with the law.
What is the time for study and professional development of public school teachers in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Clause 1 and 2, Article 5 of the Regulations on working hours for public school teachers issued together with Circular 28/2009/TT-BGDĐT (amended by Clause 3, Article 1 of Circular 15/2017/TT-BGDĐT) stipulating working hours and annual leave as follows:
1. The working hours of primary school teachers in a school year are 42 weeks, including:
a) 35 weeks for teaching and other educational activities according to the regulations on the school year schedule.
b) 05 weeks for study and professional development.
c) 01 week for preparing for the new school year.
d) 01 week for summarizing the school year.
2. The working hours of secondary school and high school teachers in a school year are 42 weeks, including:
a) 37 weeks for teaching and educational activities according to the regulations on the school year schedule.
b) 03 weeks for study and professional development.
c) 01 week for preparing for the new school year.
d) 01 week for summarizing the school year.
2a. The working hours of teachers at preparatory universities are 42 weeks, including:
a) 28 weeks for teaching and educational activities according to the school year plan;
b) 12 weeks for study, professional development, building materials, scientific research and other activities according to the school year plan;
c) 01 week for preparing for the new school year;
d) 01 week for summarizing the school year.
As regulations above, the time for public school teachers to study and improve their skills is as follows:
- 05 weeks for study and professional development for primary school teachers.
- 03 weeks for study and professional development for secondary school and high school teachers.
- 12 weeks for study and professional development for teachers at preparatory universities.
What are the duties of a public school teacher who is also a homeroom teacher in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 4 of the Regulations on working hours for public school teachers issued together with Circular 28/2009/TT-BGDĐT stipulating duties of a public school teacher who is also a homeroom teacher in Vietnam as follows:
In addition to the duties of teachers stipulated in Article 3 of this Regulation, teachers who are also homeroom teachers have the following additional duties:
1. Study and understand students in the class in all aspects in order to have appropriate educational methods to promote the progress of each student and the whole class.
2. Coordinate closely with students' families, proactively coordinate with subject teachers, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Ho Chi Minh Pioneers, other relevant associations and social organizations in the teaching and educational activities of the class they are in charge of.
3. Evaluate and rank students at the end of each semester and end of the school year, recommend rewards and punishments for students, recommend lists of students to be promoted, lists of students to be retested, to be re-educated in terms of behavior during the summer vacation, to be retained in class, and complete the recording of grades and student records.
4. Participate in guiding collective activities, educational activities, and student training organized by the school.
5. Report regularly or unexpectedly to the Principal on the situation of the class.
Above are the duties of a public school teacher who is also a homeroom teacher in Vietnam.
