Is a Height of 1.63m Ineligible for Admission to Military Officer School No.1?
Clause 3 Article 1 of Circular 42/2017/TT-BQP and Clause 4 Article 1 of Circular 24/2018/TT-BQP stipulate the health standards as follows:
The officer training schools for command, political, logistics, including the academies: Logistics, Air Defense - Air Force, Navy, Border Guard and the officer schools: Infantry 1, Infantry 2, Politics, Artillery, Engineering, Armored - Mechanized, Signal, Commando, Chemical:

- Regarding physical fitness: Male candidates must be at least 1.65 m tall and weigh at least 50 kg;
Candidates who have had permanent residence for 3 years or more in area 1, islands, and candidates who are ethnic minorities, applying for the following schools: Candidates (both male and female) can be selected if their physical fitness reaches Type 1 and Type 2 as prescribed in Section I of Appendix 1 Classification of health according to physical fitness and diseases, issued together with Joint Circular No. 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP, specifically male candidates must be at least 1.62 m tall;
Male candidates who are ethnic minorities from 16 very small ethnic groups as prescribed in Clause 1 Article 2 of Decree No. 57/2017/ND-CP dated May 9, 2017 of the Government of Vietnam on regulations on priority admission policy and study support for preschool children, and very small ethnic minority students (including the ethnic groups: Cong, Mang, Pu Peo, Si La, Co Lao, Bo Y, La Ha, Ngai, Chut, O Du, Brau, Ro Mam, Lo Lo, Lu, Pa Then, La Hu) applying for all schools: The height requirement can be reduced to 1.60 m, with other standards as applied to ethnic minority candidates in general;

Thus, if you have had permanent residence for 3 years or more in area 1, islands, or are from an ethnic minority, the height requirement is only 1.62 m; If you belong to a very small ethnic minority, the height requirement is only 1.60 m. If you do not fall into these categories, then with a height of 1.63 m, you do not meet the conditions to apply for admission to Infantry School 1.
