Illustrative example for the 2024 High School Graduation English Exam in Vietnam

The English is one of the independent exam papers in the 2024 High School Graduation Exam. The illustrative example for the English exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions.

The time allocated for the exam is 60 minutes (excluding the time given to distribute the exam papers).

What are requirements pertaining to question papers in the 2024 High School Graduation English Exam in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Article 15 of the Regulation of high school graduation exam issued together with the Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT (amended by Clause 5 Article 1 of the Circular 05/2021/TT-BGDDT) stipulating requirements pertaining to question papers:

Requirements pertaining to question papers

1. A question paper of the exam must meet the following requirements:

a) The content shall comply with clause 2 Article 4 hereof;

b) Ensure the conciseness, scientific and educational properties; be framed in a clear and easily understandable language;

c) Stick to the standards of knowledge and skills of the high school curriculum; ensure the categorization of candidates;

d) Point for each question shall be printed in the written question paper; scores of the written papers and the multiple-choice papers are converted into a 0-10 point scale for the whole papers and the same scale applied to the component papers of a combined paper;

As regulations above, a question paper of the exam must meet the following requirements:

- Ensure the content of the high school curriculum, primarily grade-12 curriculum;

- Ensure the conciseness, scientific and educational properties; be framed in a clear and easily understandable language;

- Stick to the standards of knowledge and skills of the high school curriculum; ensure the categorization of candidates;

- Point for each question shall be printed in the written question paper; scores of the written papers and the multiple-choice papers are converted into a 0-10 point scale for the whole papers and the same scale applied to the component papers of a combined paper;

- State the number of pages of the question paper (if 2 pages and above) and clearly indicate the word “HẾT" (THE END) at the end of the paper.

Who are exempt from all papers of the 2024 High School Graduation English Exam in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Article 36 of the Regulation of high school graduation exam issued together with the Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT stipulating exemption from all papers of the exam:

Exemption from all papers of the exam

1. A person chosen to become a member in the national team for the International or Regional Olympiad of academic subject shall be exempt from all papers of the high school graduation examination if he/she:

a) is chosen in the second semester of 12^th grade;

b) has his/her conduct classified as Good and academic performance classified as Good or above in the 12^th grade; and

c) is named in a list of exemption of the MOET.

2. A person chosen to become a member in the national team for the International or Regional Olympiad of engineering or arts shall be exempt from all papers of the high school graduation examination if he/she:

a) is chosen in the second semester of 12th grade;

b) has his/her conduct classified as Average and academic performance classified as Average or above in the 12^th grade; and

c) is named in an official dispatch on request for exemption and confirmation of training and taking test made by the recruiter sent to the DET before the date of high school graduation exam.

As regulations above, following entities are exempt from all papers of the 2024 High School Graduation English Exam in Vietnam:

[1] A person chosen to become a member in the national team for the International or Regional Olympiad of academic subject shall be exempt from all papers of the high school graduation examination if he/she:

- is chosen in the second semester of 12^th grade;

- has his/her conduct classified as Good and academic performance classified as Good or above in the 12^th grade; and

- is named in a list of exemption of the MOET.

[2] A person chosen to become a member in the national team for the International or Regional Olympiad of engineering or arts shall be exempt from all papers of the high school graduation examination if he/she:

- is chosen in the second semester of 12th grade;

- has his/her conduct classified as Average and academic performance classified as Average or above in the 12^th grade; and

- is named in an official dispatch on request for exemption and confirmation of training and taking test made by the recruiter sent to the DET before the date of high school graduation exam.

[3] People suffering from extremely severe disabilities and severe disabilities must satisfy the following requirements:

- In the case of disabled students who follow the general education program:

+ They must finish the high school program;

+ They meet the requirements to take the 2024 High School Graduation English Exam;

+ They have the certificate of disability issued by the competent authority;

- In the case of disabled students who do not meet the requirements of the general education program:

+ They shall have the certificate of the implementation of the individual education plan each year at high school level approved by the headmaster of the school at which they studied;

+ They have the certificate of disability issued by a competent authority;

[4] In the case of revolutionary activists and their children infected with chemical toxins:

- They must finish the high school program

- They meet the requirements to take the 2024 High School Graduation English Exam;

- They have the certificate of infection with chemical toxins with the working capacity loss from 61% and above issued by a competent authority.
