If I win a gold medal in an international Olympic competition, will I be awarded a Labor Order in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Article 3 of Decree 110/2020/ND-CP regulating reward standards for students and trainees who win prizes in national and international competitions as follows:

1. Award the first-class Labor Order to pupils and students who achieve one of the following achievements:

a) Won two consecutive Gold Medals in international Olympic competitions in subjects or twice consecutively won first prize in international scientific and technical research competitions;

b) Won a Gold Medal in the world vocational skills competition.

2. Award the second-class Labor Order to students and trainees who achieve one of the following achievements:

a) Won a Gold Medal in an international Olympic competition in subjects or first prize in an international scientific and technical research competition;

b) Won a Silver Medal in the world vocational skills competition or a Gold Medal in the Asian vocational skills competition.

3. Award third-class Labor Order to students and trainees who achieve one of the following achievements:

a) Won a Silver Medal in the International Olympic Competition in subjects or second prize in an international scientific and technical research competition or a Gold Medal in the Asian Olympic Competition in subjects;

b) Won a Bronze Medal in the world skills competition or a Silver Medal in the Asian skills competition.

4. Award the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to pupils and students who achieve one of the following achievements:

a) Won a Bronze Medal in the International Olympic Competition in subjects or third prize in an international scientific and technical research competition or a Silver Medal in the Asian Olympic Competition in various subjects;

b) Won a Bronze Medal in the Asian vocational skills competition or a Gold Medal in the Southeast Asian vocational skills competition.

5. Award a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training or a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to pupils, students and trainees who achieve one of the following achievements:

a) Won Bronze Medals in Asian Olympic competitions in all subjects;

b) Won a Silver Medal or Bronze Medal in the Southeast Asian vocational skills competition;

c) Won consolation prizes, fourth prizes, certificates of excellent vocational skills, honorary degrees (hereinafter referred to as consolation prizes) in international competitions specified in Clause 2, Article 2 of this Decree;

d) Won first prize, second prize or third prize in national competitions as prescribed in Clause 1, Article 2 of this Decree.

6. Pupils, students, and trainees who achieve many achievements in a year will be considered for the highest state-level commendation according to the provisions of Clauses 1, 2, 3, 4 of this Article.

Thus, if you win a gold medal in an international Olympic competition, you will be awarded a second-class Labor Order; if you win a gold medal twice consecutively, you will be awarded a first-class Labor Order in Vietnam.

How much money is awarded for winning an international Olympic gold medal in Vietnam?

According to Article 5 of Decree 110/2020/ND-CP, bonus levels for students and trainees who win prizes in national and international competitions are as follows:

1. Pupils, students, and trainees who win prizes in international Olympic competitions in subjects, international scientific and technical research competitions, and world vocational skills competitions will be rewarded at the following levels:

a) Gold medal or first prize: 55 million VND;

b) Silver medal or second prize: 35 million VND;

c) Bronze medal or third prize: 25 million VND;

d) Incentive: 10 million VND.

2. Pupils, students, and trainees who win prizes in the Asian Olympic competitions in subjects and Asian vocational skills competitions will be rewarded at the following levels:

a) Gold Medal: 35 million VND;

b) Silver Medal: 25 million VND;

c) Bronze Medal: 10 million VND;

d) Incentive: 8 million VND.

3. Pupils, students, and trainees who win prizes in the Southeast Asian vocational skills competition will be rewarded at the following levels:

a) Gold Medal: 25 million VND;

b) Silver Medal: 10 million VND;

c) Bronze Medal: 8 million VND;

d) Incentive: 5 million VND.

4. Pupils, students, and trainees who win prizes in national exams specified in Clause 1, Article 2 of this Decree will be rewarded at the following levels:

a) First Prize: 4 million VND;

b) Second Prize: 2 million VND;

c) Third prize: 1 million VND.

5. Teams, groups of students, students, and trainees who win prizes in exams specified in Article 2 of this Decree will be awarded twice the amount of money given to individuals specified in Clauses 1, 2, 3, 4 This.

6. Pupils, students, and trainees who are ethnic minorities or people with disabilities who win prizes in exams specified in Article 2 of this Decree are entitled to 1.5 times the reward level specified in Clauses 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 of this Article. In cases where pupils, students, and trainees who are ethnic minorities and people with disabilities win prizes in exams specified in Article 2 of this Decree, they will receive twice the reward level specified in Clauses 1, 2, and 2. 3, 4, 5 of this Article.

7. Pupils, students, and trainees are entitled to the bonus level as prescribed in this Decree and the bonus level specified in Decree No. 91/2017/ND-CP.

According to this Article, if you win a gold medal in the international Olympic competition, you will be rewarded with a bonus of 55 million VND in Vietnam.
