How long does the summer vacation of preschool teachers in Vietnam last?

Pursuant to Article 3 of the Decree 84/2020/NĐ-CP stipulating summer vacation of teachers in Vietnam as follows:

1. Summer vacation of teachers:

a) Annual summer vacation of teachers of institutions for preschool education, institutions for general education, and special schools is 8 weeks, including annual permitted leave;

b) Annual summer vacation of teachers of vocational secondary schools and colleges is 6 weeks, including annual permitted leave;

c) Annual summer vacation of teachers of institutions of higher education shall comply with organizational and operational regulations of the institutions of higher education;

d) In case of any irregularity, emergency cases for prevention of natural disasters, diseases or other emergencies, summer vacation of teachers of institutions for preschool education, institutions for general education, special schools, vocational secondary schools and colleges shall be decided by Minister of Education and Training and Minister of Labor – War Invalids and Social Affairs depending on entitlement.

2. In addition to summer vacation specified under Clause 1 of this Article, teachers shall benefit from other vacations according to the Labor Code.

3. Based on school year plans prescribed by Ministry of Education and Training and specific local conditions, Chairpersons of People’s Committees of provinces and central-affiliated cities (hereinafter referred to as “provincial People’s Committees”) shall decide on beginning of summer vacation of teachers of institutions for preschool education, institutions for general education, and special schools in the areas.

Pursuant to Point b Clause 1 of this Article, principals of vocational secondary schools and colleges shall decide on the beginning of summer vacation of teachers satisfactory to training plans and specific conditions of each education institution.

4. Summer vacation of teachers in education institutions affiliated to Ministry of National Defense and Ministry of Public Security shall conform to separate regulations of the Government.

As regulations above, preschool teachers do have summer vacation. Their vacation last 8 weeks. During this period of time, you cannot send him to the school as this is the annual vacation of teachers. In your case, you can only hire baby-sitters or ask relatives to take care of him.

What are tasks of preschool teachers in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Article 27 of the preschool charter issued together with the Circular 52/2020/TT-BGDĐT stipulating tasks of preschool teachers in Vietnam as follows:

1. Protect the safety of children's physical, mental, and lives during their time at school.

2. Perform the work of nurturing, caring, and educating children in accordance with the educational program for preschools.

3. Preserve the virtue, honor, and reputation of educators; treat fairly and respect the personality of children; protect legitimate rights and benefits of children; unite and help colleagues; perform etiquette principles of teachers and regulations on educators’ morality as per regulation.

4. Disseminate scientific knowledge about raising children for parents of children; proactively cooperate with families of children in performing educational objectives for children.

5. Conduct self-study and advanced training to improve the professional capability in nurturing, caring, educating children.

6. Perform regulations of the school and other regulations of the law.

Above are tasks of preschool teachers in Vietnam.

What are rights of preschool teachers in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Article 29 of the preschool charter issued together with the Circular 52/2020/TT-BGDĐT stipulating rights of preschool teachers in Vietnam as follows:

1. To be respected; to have their dignity, honor, and body protected; to enjoy physical and spiritual benefits as per regulation.

2. To be autonomous in performing professional tasks with the assistance of divisions of specialities and the school; to be facilitated to perform tasks of nurturing, caring, and educating children.

3. To receive salary and allowance and other policies as per the law.

4. To be facilitated to study and attend advanced training to improve professional capability while receiving full salary, allowance according to the salary, and other policies as per regulation when appointed by competent authorities to study or attend advanced training.

5. To receive commendations and emulation titles and other noble titles as per regulation.

6. Other rights as per the law.
