How long can students suspend their study duration?
At Clause 1, Article 15 of the Regulation promulgated together with Circular 08/2021/TT-BGDDT on the Regulation of undergraduate education level issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, it is stipulated:
Students can request a temporary leave of absence and have their previously completed results preserved in the following cases:
- Being called into the armed forces;
- Being summoned by an authority to represent the country in international competitions or tournaments;
- Being ill, on maternity leave, or having an accident requiring long-term treatment certified by an authorized medical examination and treatment facility as stipulated by the Ministry of Health;
- For other personal reasons, but the student must have completed at least one semester at the training institution and is not in the cases of being considered for expulsion or disciplinary review.
=> The law does not specify how long the preservation of study results lasts, nor how many semesters a student can preserve their study results. However, in the application for preservation of study results sent to the school, the period for which the student wishes to preserve the results is usually indicated. Each school may have its own regulations on this matter.
Best regards.
