How are the 2024 High School Graduation Exam Scores Rounded?
Based on Article 27 of the High School Graduation Exam Regulations issued alongside Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, amended by Clause 12, Article 1 of Circular 05/2021/TT-BGDDT, the essay exam marking is regulated as follows:
Marking Essay Exams
- General rules for marking essay exams:
a) Exams are marked according to the marking guide, answer key, and scoring rubric of the Ministry of Education and Training; exams are marked on a 10-point scale; the decimal points of the total score are rounded to 2 decimal places; each exam is marked independently by two examiners from two different marking groups;
b) The Secretariat of the Examination Council hands over the coded exam envelopes and marking sheets to the Head of Essay Marking;
c) The Head of Essay Marking organizes the review of the exam regulations, discusses the answer key and marking guide with all marking group leaders and examiners, and conducts a joint marking session of at least 10 essay exams; afterward, organizes the marking process following the two-independent-rounds marking procedure in separate marking rooms. For Examination Councils with 30,000 candidates or more, the Head of Essay Marking or the Team Leader of the Marking Team authorized by the Head of Essay Marking organizes joint marking sessions for each marking team or group of marking teams;
d) The allocation of exam envelopes to examiners is done by drawing lots.

Based on Article 27 of the High School Graduation Exam Regulations issued alongside Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, the multiple-choice exam marking is regulated as follows:
Marking Multiple-Choice Exams

- Marking: After completing the tasks stipulated in Clause 2 of this Article, the Multiple-Choice Marking Team opens the sealed CD containing the multiple-choice exam marking data from the Ministry of Education and Training, records the opening of the seal and inputs the marking data into the multiple-choice exam marking software under the supervision of the police and the Monitoring Team; conducts the marking, rounding to two decimal places for each exam and each component subject of the combined exam; consistently uses the exam and subject codes in the data files as regulated by the Ministry of Education and Training; during the process, the Examination Council must strictly update and report promptly to the Ministry of Education and Training (through the Department of Quality Management).

Thus, the rules for rounding the 2024 high school graduation exam scores are as follows:
[1] For Essay Exams
- Exams are marked on a 10-point scale- The decimal points of the total score are rounded to 2 decimal places
[2] For Multiple-Choice Exams
- Rounded to two decimal places for each exam and each component subject of the combined exam
Example: A score of 6.234 is rounded to 6.23; a score of 6.236 is rounded to 6.24.

How is the Enrollment Area for the High School Graduation Exam Defined?
Based on Appendix 1 issued alongside the University Admissions Regulations and College Admissions for Early Childhood Education issued alongside Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, the enrollment areas for the high school graduation exam are divided as follows:
[1] Area 1 (KV1)
- The areas include communes in areas 1, 2, and 3, and communes with particularly difficult villages within ethnic and mountainous regions- Particularly difficult communes in coastal and island areas- Particularly difficult communes, border communes, and safe communes eligible for investment under Program 135 as decided by the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam.
[2] Rural Area 2 (KV2-NT): Localities that do not belong to KV1, KV2, KV3
[3] Area 2 (KV2)
- District-level towns and provincial cities- District-level towns, suburban districts of centrally governed cities (excluding communes in KV1).
[4] Area 3 (KV3): Inner-city districts of centrally governed cities.
When Will Students Be Recognized for Graduation in 2024?
Based on Article 42 of the High School Graduation Exam Regulations issued alongside Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, the recognition of high school graduation is regulated as follows:
Recognition of High School Graduation
Candidates who meet the exam requirements, are not disciplined with nullified results, have all exams and component subjects of the combined exam registered for graduation consideration scoring above 1.0 on a 10-point scale, and have a Graduation Score (DXTN) of 5.0 or higher, are recognized for high school graduation.
Candidates who meet the exam requirements and are exempted from all exams in the high school graduation consideration per Article 36 of this Regulation are recognized for high school graduation.
According to the above regulations, to pass the high school graduation exam in 2024, candidates must meet the following conditions:
- Exam scores for all exams and component subjects of the combined exam registered for graduation consideration must be above 1.0 on a 10-point scale.- The Graduation Score (DXTN) must be 5.0 or higher.
