How are Graduates of Non-Commissioned Officer Training Ranked? Criteria for Appointment to Positions for Non-Commissioned Officers and Soldiers.
What rank will graduates of non-commissioned officer training be promoted to?
Pursuant to Clause 2, Article 7 of Circular 07/2016/TT-BQP, the regulations for non-commissioned officers and soldiers who are students in schools are as follows:
a) Students currently studying at the schools:
- Promotion to the rank of Private First Class: Have held the rank of Private for enough 6 months.
- Promotion to the rank of Corporal: Have held the rank of Private First Class for enough 6 months.
- Promotion to the rank of Sergeant: Have held the rank of Corporal for enough 12 months.
- Promotion to the rank of Staff Sergeant: Have held the rank of Sergeant for enough 12 months.
b) Graduates of non-commissioned officer command training:
- Training for Squad Leaders and equivalent positions; graduates with a grade of Good or higher will be promoted to the rank of Sergeant, those with an average grade will be promoted to the rank of Corporal.
- Training for Deputy Platoon Leaders and equivalent positions, graduates will be promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
c) Graduates of primary technical, professional training:
- Training duration of 6 months or less: Graduates with a grade of Excellent will be promoted to the rank of Sergeant; those with Good and average grades will be promoted to the rank of Corporal.
- Training duration of more than 6 months: Graduates with a grade of Good or higher will be promoted to the rank of Sergeant; those with an average grade will be promoted to the rank of Corporal.
d) Students who have excellently completed their tasks and have received commendations from Emulation Soldiers or higher will be considered for promotion by one military rank; those with exceptionally outstanding achievements will be considered for accelerated promotion not subject to the time limits specified in Points a, b, and c of this clause;
e) Students who do not graduate or do not complete the training program will not be considered for military rank promotion.
Accordingly, under the current regulations, in the case of graduates of non-commissioned officer training, Squad Leaders graduating with a grade of Good or higher will be promoted to the rank of Sergeant, and those with an average grade will be promoted to the rank of Corporal. For Deputy Squad Leaders, graduates will be promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Criteria for appointment to positions for non-commissioned officers and soldiers
According to Article 10 of this Circular, the criteria for appointment to positions for non-commissioned officers and soldiers are as follows:
Meet the political standards and successfully complete the responsibilities and tasks assigned.
Demonstrate the capability to fulfill the responsibilities and tasks when appointed to new positions.
For reserve military personnel: Have been arranged and appointed to the correct positions in the mobilized reserve unit.
Accordingly, for non-commissioned officers and soldiers to be considered for appointment to positions, they must meet the above standards.
