High School Students Using Phones During Class: Will Their Conduct Grades Be Lowered?
According to Clause 4, Article 37 of the Charter for Secondary Schools, High Schools, and Multi-level Schools promulgated together with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT, high school students are not allowed to use mobile phones and other devices during class if they are not for learning purposes and are not approved by the teacher.
Additionally, Clause 1, Article 3 of the Regulation on Evaluation and Classification of Secondary and High School Students promulgated together with Circular 58/2011/TT-BGDDT stipulates the basis for evaluating and grading conduct as follows:
- Evaluation of the conduct of students is based on specific expressions of attitude and ethical behavior; interactions in relationships with teachers, staff, family, friends, and social relationships; the awareness of striving in learning; results of participation in work, collective activities of the class, of the school, and society; physical training, maintaining hygiene, and protecting the environment;
- The results of remarks on the attitude and behavior of students regarding the content taught in the Civic Education subject stipulated in the secondary and high school educational programs issued by the Minister of Education and Training.
Thus, whether your child's conduct grade is lowered for using a phone during class depends on the school's rules and your child's learning and training process as a basis for conduct evaluation. Therefore, you need to review the school's conduct grading regulations or contact the school for detailed guidance.
