Grade 8 Student Misses 10 Days of School: Can They Be Promoted to the Next Grade?
Pursuant to Clause 2, Article 15 of the regulations on the evaluation, classification of lower secondary and upper secondary school students issued together with Circular 58/2011/TT-BGDDT, it is stipulated that students falling into one of the following cases will not be promoted to the next grade:
- Miss more than 45 school days in a school year (whether with permission or without permission, continuous absences or multiple accumulated absences);
- Academic performance for the whole year is classified as Poor, or both academic performance and conduct for the whole year are classified as Weak;
- After having retaken the exams in certain subjects, the average score of the subjects graded with points is below 5.0 or the subjects graded with comments are classified as Not Satisfactory (CD), leading to an overall academic classification for the whole year that does not reach the average level.
- Conduct for the entire year is classified as Weak, but not completing the training tasks during the summer break results in still being classified as Weak in conduct.
Thus, considering the number of school days you have missed, it is less than 45 days (whether with permission or without permission, continuous absences or multiple accumulated absences) in a school year. Therefore, you will not be retained for this reason. However, you may refer to the remaining cases to know exactly about your situation.
Sincerely!
