Foreign Students Pursuing a Master's Degree in Vietnamese: What Level of Vietnamese Proficiency is Required?
According to Clause 4, Article 5 of the Regulations on Admission and Training at the Master's Degree Level issued together with Circular 23/2021/TT-BGDDT (Effective from October 15, 2021) stipulating the objects and conditions for admission, in which:
Foreign applicants enrolling in Master's Degree programs taught in Vietnamese must achieve a Vietnamese language proficiency of Level 4 or higher according to the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework for Foreigners or have graduated from a university (or an equivalent level or higher) with a curriculum taught in Vietnamese; and meet the requirements for a second language as prescribed by the training institution (if any).
