Does a War Veteran's Grandchild Receive Priority Points When Taking University Entrance Exams?
Based on Point b, Clause 1, Article 7 of the Regulation on university admissions promulgated with Circular 09/2020/TT-BGDDT, the priority subjects are stipulated as follows:
Priority Group 2 (UT2) includes the following subjects:
- Subject 06:
+ Vietnamese citizens who are ethnic minorities with permanent residence outside the areas specified for Subject 01;
+ Children of war invalids, children of sick soldiers, children of persons entitled to policies as war invalids with a working capacity decrease of less than 81%;
+ Children of individuals who participated in the resistance against chemical toxins with a working capacity decrease of less than 81%;
+ Children of individuals involved in the revolution, resistance activities who were imprisoned or exiled by the enemy;
+ Children of individuals involved in the national liberation resistance, defense of the Fatherland, and fulfillment of international duties with a certification of entitlement to priority policies according to Decree No. 31/2013/ND-CP dated April 09, 2013, of the Government of Vietnam detailing and guiding the implementation of certain articles of the Ordinance on Preferential Treatment of People with Meritorious Services to the Revolution;
+ Children of individuals who have made contributions to the revolution;
=> According to this regulation, only the children of the aforementioned subjects are entitled to priority policies during university admissions. In the case of grandchildren of the aforementioned subjects, specifically grandchildren of war invalids, they are not given priority.
