I am a high school teacher eligible for seniority allowance. Due to personal reasons, I would like to take unpaid leave for half a month. Will this leave be counted towards my seniority allowance? What is the calculation of the seniority allowance in Vietnam? Please provide clarification.

Based on Article 3 of Decree 77/2021/ND-CP on the calculation of seniority allowance and non-counting period for seniority allowance, the following is stipulated:
1. Calculation of seniority allowance period
The seniority allowance period is determined by the sum of the following periods:
a) Teaching and education time with mandatory social insurance contributions in public educational institutions.
b) Teaching and education time with mandatory social insurance contributions in non-public educational institutions (for teachers who are currently teaching and educating in public educational institutions and have previously taught and educated in non-public educational institutions).
c) Working time eligible for seniority allowance, including: working time classified under one of the positions or titles in customs, courts, prosecution, auditing, inspection, civil enforcement, forestry inspection, national reserves, party inspection; working time eligible for seniority allowance in the military, police, and other professions (if applicable).
d) Military service obligation time as stipulated, which is currently eligible for seniority allowance for the profession.
2. Non-counting period for seniority allowance
a) Probationary period.
b) Continuous leave without salary for more than 1 month.
c) Sick leave, maternity leave exceeding the time limit prescribed by social insurance laws.
d) Time spent working as an expert, studying, interning, working, or conducting surveys domestically and internationally beyond the authorized time limit.
e) Time of temporary suspension or detention for the purpose of investigation, prosecution, and trial.
f) Other non-working time not specified in points a, b, c, d, and e of this Clause 2.
Therefore, if you resign without pay for half a month, it will still be counted towards the seniority allowance period as regulated above.

What is the calculation of the seniority allowance in Vietnam?
According to Article 4 of Decree 77/2021/ND-CP on the calculation of the seniority allowance amount, the following is stipulated:
1. Teachers who have participated in teaching and education with mandatory social insurance contributions for a minimum of 5 years (60 months) are eligible for a seniority allowance equal to 5% of the current salary plus leadership position allowance and seniority allowance beyond the salary scale (if applicable). From the sixth year onwards, an additional 1% is added for each year (12 months).
2. The seniority allowance is paid together with the monthly salary and is used to calculate social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance contributions.
3. Calculation of the monthly seniority allowance amount:
