Can students from continuing education study at university?
According to Clause 1, Article 5 of the University Admission Regulations; Admission to Early Childhood Education Colleges issued together with Circular 09/2020/TT-BGDDT regarding university admission requirements is as follows:
- Candidates who have graduated from the Vietnamese high school program (in the form of formal education or continuing education) or have graduated from an intermediate level (in which those who have graduated from the intermediate level but do not have a high school diploma must study and pass the required knowledge amount of high school culture as prescribed by the Education Law and guiding documents) or have graduated from a high school program abroad (authorized by the host country, equivalent to the Vietnamese high school level) either abroad or in Vietnam (hereinafter referred to as high school graduation).
Thus, according to this regulation, students studying at continuing education centers are still eligible to take university entrance exams.
Principles, admission methods, and thresholds for ensuring the quality of university entrance
Based on Article 4 of the aforementioned Regulations stipulating the principles, admission methods, and thresholds for ensuring the quality of university entrance as follows:
Principles: Schools can only admit students when they meet all the conditions allowed for training according to current regulations.
Admission methods include: Entrance examination, review, or a combination of both.
Quality assurance thresholds for university entrance admissions
a) Based on the admission method, schools determine and announce the threshold for ensuring quality in the admission Scheme. For health-related fields requiring professional practice certificates and the training field of early childhood education at the college level (collectively called the teacher training field), the quality assurance threshold is stipulated by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET);
b) The quality assurance threshold set by the schools must ensure the quality of the admission source. The director of the university, academy, the rector of the university, colleges admitting students in the Early Childhood Education field (collectively called the rector) are responsible for explaining the process and basis for determining the quality assurance threshold to the Ministry of Education and Training, competent authorities, and related parties.
