Academic performance is good, but absence for 35 days/year - will the student be held back?
Article 15 of the Regulation on assessment and classification of lower secondary and upper secondary students promulgated together with Circular 58/2011/TT-BGDDT stipulates:
- The following cases shall render the student ineligible for promotion to the next grade:
a) Absence for more than 45 days in the school year (whether with or without permission, continuously or cumulatively);
b) Academic performance rated as Poor for the whole year, or if both academic performance and conduct are rated as Weak for the whole year;
Accordingly, based on the above regulations, if a student is absent for more than 45 days in the school year, they will not be eligible for promotion to the next grade (regardless of whether their academic performance is excellent or good).
However, since you have only been absent for 35 days in the school year, you are still eligible for promotion to the next grade if your conduct for the whole year is not rated as Weak.
Respectfully!
