What are general criteria for the positions of professor in Vietnam?
According to Article 4 of Decision 37/2018/QĐ-TTg, the general criteria for the positions of professor and associate professor are as follows:

1. Not violating the ethics of teachers, not being in a disciplinary period of reprimand or more or serving a criminal sentence; honest and objective in training, scientific research and other professional activities.
2. Time in training tasks from the university level and above:
a) Have enough time in training and development tasks from the university level and above according to regulations in Clause 2, Article 5 of this Decision for the position of professor; Clause 2 and Clause 3, Article 6 of this Decision for the position of associate professor;
b) The time a lecturer works as an education expert at a foreign university is counted as the time in training from the university level and above if there is a letter of appointment or contract of invitation from the foreign university, which clearly states the work content, teaching time or there is a decision of the Minister of Education and Training to send to work as an education expert abroad.

Therefore, the position of professor must meet the following general criteria:
- Not violating the ethics of teachers, not being in a disciplinary period of reprimand or more or serving a criminal sentence;
- Honest and objective in training, scientific research and other professional activities;
- Time in training tasks from the university level and above.
- Complete the assigned tasks and fulfill the required number of teaching hours, including at least 1/2 of the required number of direct teaching hours. For visiting lecturers, they must fulfill at least 50% of the required teaching hours.
- The head of the university gives written comments and evaluations on the tasks assigned to the lecturer, including the name of the subject, level of training, development, the degree of completion of the teaching workload, guidance of dissertations, theses, projects or theses; about the results of training and research of the lecturer.
- Use at least one foreign language proficiently to serve professional work and be able to communicate in English.
- Have a minimum number of converted scientific papers according to regulations.

According to Article 3 of Decision 37/2018/QĐ-TTg, the duties of professors and associate professors are as follows:

1. Perform the duties of lecturers as prescribed by the Law on Education, the Law on Higher Education, the working conditions of lecturers and other relevant legal documents.
2. Compile curricula, textbooks and other teaching materials; teach, guide projects, theses, master's theses, specialized theses, topics, doctoral dissertations and perform other professional tasks as prescribed.
3. Research, develop scientific applications and technology transfer, ensure the quality of education.
4. Cultivate professional ethics, scientific work style, professional training, and research guidance for colleagues in the team, professional group.
5. Collaborate with colleagues on professional work; participate in scientific, technological, technology transfer activities to serve the economy, society, national defense, security and other tasks.
Therefore, professors have the following duties:
- Perform the duties of lecturers as prescribed.

How much is the support for professors who are directly involved in research and teaching in military academies and schools in Vietnam?
According to Clause 1 Article 2 of Decision 2826/QĐ-BQP dated August 6, 2010, the level of support and payment method are as follows:

b) 1.5 months of the minimum wage per person per month for associate professors;
c) 1.0 months of the minimum wage per person per month for doctors.

Therefore, the level of support for professors who are directly involved in research and teaching in military academies and schools is 1.7 months of the minimum wage per person per month, equivalent to VND 3,060,000 (the minimum wage is the basic salary according to current regulations).
Note: The basic salary from July 1, 2023 is VND 1,800,000/month (based on Decree 24/2023/ND-CP).
