Procedure for Re-Issuance of Ordinary Passport

Hello Editorial Team,Last month, I lost my passport on the way back from work. I need to reissue my passport in preparation for a business trip. I would like to inquire about the procedure, formalities, and tasks required to obtain a new passport at the Immigration Office. How long will it take? Legal Basis:

- Circular 07/2013/TT-BCA;- Law on Exit and Entry of Vietnamese Citizens 2019;- Circular 25/2021/TT-BTC.

1. Dossier includes:

- A copy of the birth certificate or an extract of the birth certificate for those under 14 years old;- The most recently issued ordinary passport for those who have been issued a passport; in case of a lost passport, a loss report or a notice of receipt of the application by the competent authority as prescribed in Article 28 of this Law must be attached;- A photocopy of the Identity Card or Citizen Identification Card in case of changes to personal information compared to the information in the most recently issued passport;- A certified photocopy of documents issued by Vietnamese competent authorities proving the legal representative for persons who are incapacitated for civil acts, persons with cognitive difficulties, behavior control difficulties according to the provisions of the Civil Code, or persons under 14 years old. In case the photocopy is not certified, the original must be presented for verification and comparison.

2. Place of Implementation:

- The Immigration Department of the Provincial Police where the applicant permanently resides or temporarily resides; in case a Citizen Identification Card is available, the procedure can be conducted at the Immigration Department of the Provincial Police where it is convenient.

3. Processing Time:

- For dossiers submitted at the Immigration Department: the processing time is no more than 08 working days from the date of receipt of the complete and valid dossier.

4. Fees:

- The fee for reissuing a damaged or lost passport: VND 400,000 per passport.
