Is it permitted to notarize a will at home?
Article 44 of the Law on Notarization 2014 regulates the location of notarization as follows:
"1. Notarization must be conducted at the headquarters of the notarization practice organization, except in the cases specified in Clause 2 of this Article.
- Notarization can be conducted outside the headquarters of the notarization practice organization in cases where the notarization requester is elderly, unable to move, is being temporarily detained, is serving a prison sentence, or has other legitimate reasons that prevent them from coming to the headquarters of the notarization practice organization."
According to this regulation, in principle, the notarization of wills must be conducted at the headquarters of the notarization practice organization.
However, wills can be notarized at home in the following cases:
- The notarization requester is elderly, unable to move, is being temporarily detained, is serving a prison sentence;
- There are other legitimate reasons that prevent them from coming to the headquarters of the notarization practice organization.
