Is the Investment in the Construction of Nuclear Power Plants Considered a Nationally Significant Project?
Pursuant to Clause 2a, Article 7 of the Public Investment Law 2019, a national significant project is defined as an independent investment project or a cluster of closely linked works falling into one of the following criteria:
- Having a large impact on the environment or potentially causing serious environmental impacts, including:
+ Nuclear power plants;
+ Land use requiring a change in the purpose of use of national park land, nature reserve, landscape protection area, scientific research and experimental forest from 50 hectares or more; upstream protective forests from 50 hectares or more; windbreak, sand break, wave break, sea encroachment, environmental protection protective forests from 500 hectares or more; production forests from 1,000 hectares or more.
Thus, the investment in nuclear power plants is considered a national significant project according to regulations.
