On April 14, 1975, in accordance with the wishes of the people and armed forces on the battlefield, including the military and residents of Saigon-Gia Dinh city, the Politburo approved the campaign command's proposal to name the Offensive Campaign to Liberate Saigon-Gia Dinh as the Ho Chi Minh Campaign.

What are the fundamental contents in building an all-people national defense in Vietnam?
According to Clause 2, Article 7 of the National Defense Law 2018, the basic contents of building an all-people national defense include:
- Developing a strategy for national defense and homeland defense plans; researching and developing Vietnamese military art; building a great national unity bloc and a strong political system;
- Building national defense strength and resourcefulness; building strong people's armed forces with high combat capability to be the core in defending the country;
- Constructing physical and technical infrastructure; developing the defense industry, security, military science, and technology; mobilizing scientific and technological potential of the State and People for national defense; applying scientific and military technological achievements suitable for national construction;
- Developing and implementing plans to ensure the national reserve for defense needs; preparing necessary conditions to ensure national defense mobilization;
- Building a comprehensive, firm regional defense, strategic areas, key regions, sea, islands, borders, and critical areas; constructing the people's national defense posture associated with the people's security posture nationwide;
- Developing and implementing plans and measures for information warfare and cyber warfare;
- Developing and implementing civil defense plans and measures nationwide;
- National defense diplomacy;
- Combining national defense with socio-economic development and socio-economic development with national defense; combining national defense with security and foreign affairs;
- Developing and ensuring policies for the people's armed forces and relatives of those serving in the people's armed forces;
- Propagating and disseminating the Party's policies and viewpoints, State policies, and laws on national defense; implementing education on national defense and security.
What are principles of the activities of the people's armed forces in Vietnam?
Based on Article 24 of the National Defense Law 2018, the principles of operation and circumstances for using the people's armed forces are stipulated as follows:
Article 24. Principles of Operation and Circumstances for Using People's Armed Forces
- The activities of the people's armed forces must comply with the Constitution, laws, and international treaties to which the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is a member; under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the command of the President, and the unified management of the Government of Vietnam.
- The circumstances for using the people's armed forces are regulated as follows:
a) In a state of war, a state of national defense emergency follows orders from the President and other relevant legal provisions;
b) In implementing martial law and curfew orders according to the provisions of this Law and other relevant legal provisions;
c) In a state of emergency due to disasters, dangerous epidemics, or situations posing serious threats to national security, public order, and social safety, it follows the provisions of legal statutes on emergencies and other relevant legal provisions;
