What is the Term of Office for a Member of the National Assembly?
At Article 25 of the Law on Organization of the National Assembly 2014, it is stipulated regarding the term of office for National Assembly deputies as follows:
- The term of office for National Assembly deputies follows the term of the National Assembly.
- The term of office for National Assembly deputies elected additionally begins from the opening day of the session following the additional election until the opening day of the first session of the subsequent National Assembly.
And at Clause 1, Article 2 of the Law, it is also stipulated:
- The term of office for each tenure of the National Assembly is 05 years, counting from the opening day of the first session of that tenure to the opening day of the first session of the subsequent tenure.
=> Therefore, according to the aforementioned regulations, National Assembly deputies have a 5-year term; for deputies elected additionally, their term is calculated from the opening day of the session following the additional election until the opening day of the first session of the subsequent National Assembly.
