What Forces Are Included in the People's Public Security Forces?

1. What is the People's Police Force?

Article 3 of the 2018 People's Police Law stipulates the structure of the People's Police Force as follows:

The People's Police Force is the core armed force in carrying out the tasks of protecting national security, ensuring social order and safety, and combating and preventing crimes and violations of the law related to national security and social order and safety.

Previously, in the 2014 People's Police Law, the People's Police Force was defined to include the People's Security Force, the People's Police Force, and Commune Police. However, the 2018 People's Police Law no longer contains this provision.

2. Principles of Organization and Operation of the People's Police Force

- It is placed under the absolute and direct leadership in all aspects of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the command of the President, the unified state management of the Government of Vietnam, and the direct command and management of the Minister of Public Security.

- It is organized centrally, uniformly, professionally, and streamlined according to administrative levels from central to grassroots.

- It abides by the Constitution and the law; subordinates obey superiors; relies on the People and is subject to the supervision of the People; protects the interests of the State, and the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.
