In the university admission period of 2024, military schools will use 4 admission methods, specifically as follows:

Method 1: Direct admission, prioritizing admission and admission of excellent high school students with a maximum of 15% of the quota.

Method 2: Admission based on high school academic records with a maximum of 10% of the quota.

Note: Military Technical Academy and Military Medical Academy do not use this method for admission.

Method 3: Admission based on the results of the National University Entrance Examination of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with a maximum of 20% of the quota.

Method 4: Admission based on the results of the high school graduation exam for the remaining quota.

What criteria must the People's Army officers meet in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Article 12 of the Law on Vietnam People’s Army Officers in 1999, the criteria of officers are as follows:

Criteria of officers

1. General criteria:

a) Being politically steadfast, absolutely loyal to the Fatherland and people, the Communist Party of Vietnam and the State of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; having the spirit of high revolutionary vigilance, being ready to fight, make sacrifice and fulfill all assigned tasks;

b) Having revolutionary virtues; being industrious, thrifty, incorruptible, upright, devoted and impartial; being exemplary in observing the lines and under-takings of the Party as well as policies and laws of the State; promoting democracy, strictly maintaining the army disciplines; respect and unite with people, with comrades-in arms; being trusted by the mass;

c) Having the political and military qualifications and the capability to creatively apply Marxism-Leninism, the Ho Chi Minh thoughts, the Party’s and State’s lines, viewpoints and policies to the task of building the entire-people defense as well as the people’s army; having knowledge about the cultural, economic, social, legal and other matters; having the capability to carry out practical activities, meeting the requirements of the assigned tasks; having graduated from the training programs prescribed for each post;

d) Having clear life story, ages and health suited to the officers’ posts and ranks.

Under what circumstances can the People's Army officers be demobilized in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Article 35 of the Law on Vietnam People’s Army Officers in 1999, amended by Clause 11, Article 1 of the Law on People's Army Officers of Vietnam amended in 2008, officers are demobilized in the following cases:

Demobilized officers

1. Officers are demobilized in the following cases:

a/ Being qualified for retirement;

b/ Reaching the demobilization ages specified in Article 13 of this Law;

c/ Due to changes in organization or staff, which no longer require officers, professional armymen, defense employees;

d/ No longer satisfying the criteria prescribed for on-active service officers.

2. Officers are demobilized in one of the following forms:

a/ Retirement;

b/ Transfer to civil jobs;

c/ Returning home from military service;

d/ Discharge from military service under the regime prescribed for diseased armymen.

3. When being demobilized, officers, if fully qualified and still in the service age of reserve officers specified in Article 38 of this Law, may be transferred to the class of reserve officers.

Therefore, the officers of the People's Army can be demobilized in the following cases:

- Being qualified for retirement;

- Reaching the demobilization ages as follows:

+ The company rank: male: 46, female: 46;

+ Major: male: 48, female: 48;

+ Lieutenant colonel: male: 51, female: 51;

+ Senior lieutenant colonel: male: 54, female: 54;

+ Colonel: male: 57, female: 55;

+ The general rank: male: 60, female: 55.

- Due to changes in organization or staff, which no longer require officers, professional armymen, defense employees;

- No longer satisfying the criteria prescribed for on-active service officers.
