What are the duties of a statistician in Vietnam?

According to Clause 2 Article 7 of Circular 08/2023/TT-BKHĐT on the positions and civil servant codes for statisticians, the duties of a statistician are as follows:

- To participate in the development of statistical survey plans, statistical reporting systems, and other statistical methods related to the assigned tasks.

- To directly collect or organize the collection of statistical information through statistical reports, statistical surveys, the exploitation of administrative registration files, and other forms related to statistical work.

- To process, summarize statistical information; compile reports, statistical yearbooks, and other statistical products in accordance with the specialty and field assigned.

- To disseminate, store, and systematize statistical information within the scope of the assignment.

- To implement guidance, monitoring, inspection, and urging organizations and individuals to provide statistical information in the specialty or field assigned in accordance with regulations.

- To participate in scientific research topics in the specialty or field of statistics assigned.

Salary for civil servants in the statistics field

1. The civil servant grades in the statistics field specified in this Circular apply to Schedule 2 (Salary schedule for professional and technical staff for civil servants in government agencies) attached to Decree 204/2004/ND-CP dated December 14, 2004 of the Government on the salary regime for civil servants, public servants, and armed forces and was amended and supplemented by Decree 17/2013/ND-CP dated February 19, 2013 of the Government as follows:

a) The Senior Statistician grade (code 23.261) applies to the civil servant salary scale of type A3, group 1 (A3.1), from salary coefficient 6.20 to salary coefficient 8.00;

b) The Principal Statistician grade (code 23.262) applies to the civil servant salary scale of type A2, group 1 (A2.1), from salary coefficient 4.40 to salary coefficient 6.78;

c) The Statistician grade (code 23.263) applies to the civil servant salary scale of type A1, from salary coefficient 2.34 to salary coefficient 4.98;

d) The Intermediate Statistician grade (code 23.264) applies to the civil servant salary scale of type A0, from salary coefficient 2.10 to salary coefficient 4.89;

đ) The Statistical Clerk grade (code 23.265) applies to the civil servant salary scale of type B, from salary coefficient 1.86 to salary coefficient 4.06.

- Grade 1: Salary coefficient 2.34, from July 01, 2023 is 4,212,000 VND

- Grade 2: Salary coefficient 2.67, from July 01, 2023 is 4,806,000 VND

- Grade 3: Salary coefficient 3.0, from July 01, 2023 is 5,400,000 VND

- Grade 4: Salary coefficient 3.33, from July 01, 2023 is 5,994,000 VND

- Grade 5: Salary coefficient 3.66, from July 01, 2023 is 6,588,000 VND

- Grade 6: Salary coefficient 3.99, from July 01, 2023 is 7,182,000 VND

- Grade 7: Salary coefficient 4.32, from July 01, 2023 is 7,776,000 VND

- Grade 8: Salary coefficient 4.65, from July 01, 2023 is 8,370,000 VND

- Grade 9: Salary coefficient 4.98, from July 01, 2023 is 8,964,000 VND.
