The Organizational Structure of the Border Guard Forces
Based on Article 3 of Decree 106/2021/ND-CP (Effective from January 21, 2022), the organizational system of the Vietnam Border Defense Force is as follows:
- Command of the Vietnam Border Defense Force
a) The Command authority of the Border Defense Force includes: the General Staff; the Political Department; the Reconnaissance Department; the Department for Drug and Crime Prevention; the Border Gate Department; the Logistics Department; the Technical Department;
b) The units under the Command authority of the Border Defense Force include: the Border Defense Fleet; Border Defense Communication Brigade; Border Defense Academy; Border Defense College; Border Defense Intermediate School 24; Training and Mobile Center;
c) The agencies and units specified in points a and b of this clause have their subordinate units.
- The Command of the Border Defense Force in provinces and centrally governed cities
a) The Command of the Border Defense Force in provinces and centrally governed cities includes: the General Staff Office; the Political Office; the Reconnaissance Office; the Office for Drug and Crime Prevention; the Logistics Office; the Technical Office;
b) The agencies specified in point a of this clause have their subordinate units.
- Border Defense Stations; Command of Border Defense at Port Entrances; Border Defense Fleet
a) Border Defense Stations include: the Armed Forces Team; the Mass Mobilization Team; the Reconnaissance Team; the Drug and Crime Prevention Team; the Administrative Control Team; the General Staff - Administration Team; the Boat Team; the Border Defense Station;
b) The Command of Border Defense at Port Entrances includes: the General Staff; the Political Command; the Reconnaissance Command; the Drug and Crime Prevention Command; the Logistics - Technical Command; the Administration Team; the Procedures Team; the Boat Team; the Border Defense Station;
c) The Border Defense Fleet includes: the General Staff - Administration Team; the Border Defense Patrol Team.
Functions, tasks, powers, and working relationships of the agencies and units under the Border Defense Force are regulated by law and the Ministry of National Defense.
Authority for establishment, reorganization, separation, merger, renaming, and dissolution of agencies and units under the Border Defense Force
a) The establishment, reorganization, separation, merger, renaming, and dissolution of the Command of the Border Defense Force are decided by the Government of Vietnam;
b) The establishment, reorganization, separation, merger, renaming, and dissolution of the agencies and units specified in clauses 1, 2, and 3 of this Article are decided by the Minister of National Defense.
