Based on Article 12 of the 2015 Military Service Law specifying subjects for military service registration:

Article 12. Subjects for military service registration

  1. Male citizens aged 17 or older.
  1. Female citizens specified in Clause 2, Article 7 of this Law who are aged 18 or older.

According to the above regulation, female citizens of the age required to perform military service with professions and specializations suitable for the requirements of the People's Army must be 18 years old or older and are subject to military service registration.

What are guidelines of Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam on the selection and conscription of female citizens for military service in 2025?​

On October 31, 2024, the Ministry of National Defense issued Guidance 4705/HD-BQP in 2024 about the selection and enlistment of citizens in 2025. The Ministry of National Defense guides the selection and enlistment of female citizens in 2025 as follows:

In addition to the general conditions and standards for selecting and enlisting male citizens, female citizens must submit a voluntary application to serve in the Army, which must be confirmed by a family representative and the People's Committee of the commune where they reside permanently, and meet the following specific conditions and standards:

- Age: From 18 to 25 years old; citizens who have graduated from college, university up to 27 years old; unmarried, without children.

- Health: Must meet health standards of Type 1, Type 2 as regulated in Circular 105/2023/TT-BQP; with a minimum height of 1.60m, balanced physique, fresh appearance.

- Technical professional qualification: Must have graduated from intermediate training or higher; priority is given to citizens who have graduated from university, college with training fields suitable to the needs of the Army. Cases with special talents will follow separate regulations of the Ministry of National Defense.

Units assigned to recruit female citizens to enlist are to actively coordinate with localities to ensure the conditions and standards prescribed; they are to recruit in various localities nationwide (individual recruitment) and are included in the local and unit recruitment target for 2025; after recruitment, they are to coordinate and transfer to the Hanoi Capital Command (for northern units), Military Region 7 Command (for southern units) for training, ensuring sufficient documentation, timely, absolute safety, and managing troop numbers in accordance.

Agencies and units under the Ministry, assigned recruitment targets for female enlistees, are directed to closely coordinate with localities to organize the selection of female citizens for enlistment, ensuring that they meet the necessary conditions and standards, and are accountable to the Minister of Defense for the quality of female enlistees in their units.

Based on Article 3 of Decree 14/2016/ND-CP regulating industries and specializations of female citizens suitable for the needs of the People's Army in 2025 as follows:

- Medicine and Pharmacy: Microbiology; Medical Parasitology; Epidemiology; Pharmacology and Toxicology; Anesthesiology and Resuscitation; Emergency and Toxicology; Surgery; Obstetrics and Gynecology; Internal Medicine; Neurology and Psychiatry; Oncology; Tuberculosis; Hematology and Blood Transfusion; Dermatology;
