What are sports weapons according to the law in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Clause 5, Article 2 of the Law on Management and Use of Weapons, Explosives, and Support Tools 2024, sports weapons include:
- Air rifles, rifles using explosive bullets, air pistols, pistols firing explosive bullets, paintball guns, clay pigeon shooting guns, and the ammunition used for these types of guns that belong to the list issued by the Minister of Public Security, used for training and sports competition.
- Swords, spears, lances, machetes, bayonets, broadswords, nunchakus, knuckleduster, maces, bows, crossbows, throwing stars that belong to the list issued by the Minister of Public Security, used for training and sports competition.
- Basic components of air rifles, rifles using explosive bullets, air pistols, pistols firing explosive bullets, paintball guns, clay pigeon shooting guns, ammunition used for these guns that belong to the list issued by the Minister of Public Security, including: gun body, barrel, trigger mechanism, bolt mechanism, firing pin.

Which weapons are included in the List of sports weapons in Vietnam from January 1, 2025?
Based on Article 6 of Circular 75/2024/TT-BCA regulating the list of military weapons, sports weapons, rudimentary weapons, support tools, and high-lethality knives:
Article 6. Lists of military weapons, sports weapons, rudimentary weapons, support tools, high-lethality knives
- The annex of this Circular promulgates the list of military weapons, sports weapons, rudimentary weapons, support tools, high-lethality knives, including:
a) Annex 1: List of military weapons specified at Point b, Clause 2, Article 2 of the Law on Management and Use of Weapons, Explosives, and Support Tools;
b) Annex 2: List of sports weapons as specified at Point a, Clause 5, Article 2 of the Law on Management and Use of Weapons, Explosives, and Support Tools;
c) Annex 3: List of rudimentary weapons specified at Point a, Clause 4, Article 2 of the Law on Management and Use of Weapons, Explosives, and Support Tools;
d) Annex 4: List of support tools specified at Point a and Point b, Clause 11, Article 2 of the Law on Management and Use of Weapons, Explosives, and Support Tools;
dd) Annex 5: List of high-lethality knives specified at Clause 6, Article 2 of the Law on Management and Use of Weapons, Explosives, and Support Tools.

Who is eligible to be equipped with sport weapons in Vietnam?
According to Article 9 of Circular 75/2024/TT-BCA stipulating subjects eligible to be equipped with military weapons and support tools:
Article 9. Subjects Eligible to Be Equipped with Military Weapons, Explosives, and Support Tools
- Subjects eligible to be equipped with military weapons, support tools, include:
a) Departments, Commands under the Ministry of Public Security; academies, schools of the People's Public Security;
b) Provincial police;
c) Prisons, detention centers; compulsory education facilities, reformatory schools; Centers for training and professional development of the People's Public Security;
d) District police, district-level towns, cities under provinces, and cities under central authority (abbreviated as district-level police);
dd) Commune-level police.
- Subjects eligible to be equipped with sports weaponry include:
a) Academies, schools of the People's Public Security;
b) Centers for sports training and competition of the People's Public Security;
c) Centers for training and professional development of the People's Public Security that conduct sports training and competition.
Subjects eligible to be equipped with sports weapons include:
- Academies, schools of the People's Public Security
- Centers for sports training and competition of the People's Public Security
- Centers for training and professional development of the People's Public Security conducting sports training and competition.
